Food we intake contains energy through which our body perform actions, it is a fuel for our body to do work. In physics work is energy, they are directly proportional, so as we do work we consume energy and use it.
  • Q: Do you believe that the foods we eat have medicinal value?

Yeah, food have, medical value. Food contains many nutrients and components which are useful as medicine. e.g. Fruits and vegetables contains vitamins, minerals and also antioxidants, antioxidants reduces inflammation. Green leaves contains fiber; helps in digestion and kills bacteria. Fruits contains antioxidants; better for inflammation and severe diseases.
  • Q: Give 5 examples of foods that you consider to be powerful "medicines" for the body, and what they do.

Honey

Honey is sweet natural food which is the best medicine for human body. It contains antioxidants and is antibacterial. It is good for health, better for heart diseases and is good for cough, and other chest diseases. It keeps the body warm in winter.

Ginger

Ginger is good for constipation and kills radicals in stomach. It boost stomach function and helps in metabolic reactions. I mix ginger powder with pomegranate's grinded peel and then adding few spoons of Isabgol (Psyllium Husk). I use this as a medicine when I feel swelling of stomach and other stomach problems; after that my stomach is working wonderfully.

It is again antioxidant. It is also good heart diseases, urinary track and digestive problems.

Almonds contains calcium and phosphorus. It is good for bones and diabetes. Almonds is mixed with milk which makes your memory stronger by boosting your brain activities. It is a traditional method used by our ancestors, my parents also guided me when I was a kid to use almond with milk.

  • Orange contains vitamin C which is best for skin and helps in digestion. It is good for avoiding cancer. Orange is used to recover your minerals after diarrhea. It cures skin diseases and gives you a smooth and better skin.

Q: How can we use food in our daily lives to keep healthy?

We should use food accordingly, if we are having certain type of disease we should not use certain food which can make that severe. e.g. if we are having diarrhea so we should avoid oily food and which are warm in nature. Moreover, we should eat food prescribed by doctors when you are not feeling well. Lastly, eating food accordingly, like, eating fats and sugary food in less amount. Carbohydrates should be used mostly and then proteins.

Q: Do you think it's important for schools to teach about how food can be like medicine for our bodies? Why?

I think educational should teach students about benefits of food because when I am feeling certain problem I search for home remedy on the internet. I don't use artificial medicine because it lowers my immunity so I prefer home remedy. If we were taught about these remedies in schools so now we will be guiding our parents and other people who don't know about the medication in food. People are relying on medicines which is beneficial for health and have side effects so the new generation should be taught about food medication to avoid these artificial medicines.
