Ensuring a Polio-Free Pakistan: Our Efforts to Protect the Future of Pakistan

I hope everyone is doing well and is enjoying his life. Today I want to talk about our polio campaign which we have done to improve the future of Pakistan. The campaign is arranged every two to three months in Pakistan, thanks to which we give polio vaccine to young children to prevent them from becoming disabled.

Before this campaign starts we have to go to our nearest CEO office from where we get this vaccine. And all the things that are to be used in this campaign along with the vaccine are provided by the government of Pakistan. Red capsules and blue capsules are also included along with scissors, tele-sheets, and chalk markers, which we use to make marks on children's fingers, all these things are provided by the government of Pakistan. By using these things we started this polio campaign in our council and this five-day campaign, we claim to vaccinate the children of the whole council with our best efforts.

To get the polio vaccine, we went to the CEO's office, and from there, we got the capsules, vaccine, tele-sheets, markers, and all the other items that were to be used in our campaign.

After getting the polio vaccine in the vaccine carrier and taking all the things, we arrived at our center, where we kept the vaccine in the freezer and arranged all the other things. The next day, our campaign started.

My duty in this campaign is at the transit point where all the buses and wagons stop. Our job is to give two drops of polio to the children who are present in them. Likewise, we took our vaccine carrier from our hospital and put the ice pack in it, we kept our vaccine and we reached the transit point.

At the transit point, we installed our respective flex to indicate at which point the polio vaccine is administered. And if someone misses us, they should see our flex and bring their child there and give their child two drops of polio.

Our UCMO of this council is my father, so he also must check the whole council, check all the workers and the area in charge whether they are doing the work properly or not. After that, they have to pick any one team to check their area which we call cluster. This cluster form has started in this campaign and we also have to do it online. I do all the work of a computer operator, so my father filled the cluster form of these area in-charges. And then they brought it to me and they told me you have to online them.

I took the cluster form and sat on one side and did it online through the mobile application. That record reaches our CEO's office and from there, that record is then sent to Main Lahore.

It was already noon now it was time for us to eat then we closed our things and kept them aside. Chaman Karachi, who was present, went to the Biryani people and we sat there and ate Biryani.

We have a break of half an hour and at this transit point, there are four of us who form two teams. One man from the two teams goes to eat when he comes back, then the others go. So that during this time no child is missed who cannot get the vaccine.

After eating, we again reached our point and while we were giving the vaccine to the children, our CEO Dr. Azhar Naqvi came to check on us.

Our CEO sir is the CEO of this entire district and all this campaign is being done under him. They check some councils daily today was our first council that they came and checked. And they appreciated us a lot because our work was going very well.

So when our off time started, we put all our vaccines in a carrier and put the rest of the ice packs in a freezer to refreeze until morning and we put them in our vaccine carrier. Can use And then after getting the vaccine and the tell-sheets and our full report, we came back to the center. Coming there, we first wrote our report to the area in charge about how many children we have administered the polio vaccine. Write down how many children were up to five years old and how many children were less than one year old.

After writing the report then we have to make a final report together with UCMO. First, we have to send it physically and also online. This report was made all together because when all the area in-charges get their report from all the workers then they will write their report to UCMO and then that report will be completed by a council.

When all the reports were completed, the area in-charges left for their respective homes. But at that time the UCMO has to go to its nearest main center and submit all the reports there. UCMO is my father so I handle all his stuff together with him. Now it was our turn to put our zero-dose children online. Because many babies need to be vaccinated for the first time because they are born within a month.

The purpose of putting these children online on the application is to get the report to the council's vaccinator who immunizes the children. And he gets to know the place where the child is born and then he goes there and in his council gives all the immunizations to the children except the polio vaccine. In this way, the health of the child is taken special care.

It is a full five-day campaign and there are three days out of five days in which we have to fully vaccinate our children. And two days are ketchup days in which we have to find the child who hasn't had the polio vaccine. Because many children are not present at home, they are on a journey and often they get lost, so it takes two days to find them.

This is our five-day campaign, which we have successfully carried out, and tried our best to ensure that two drops of polio are given to children under five years of age. To protect them from disability and disease, many families do not understand this vaccine properly.
