What is “social media” in your life, and how many hours a day do you spend on it?

I am sure we all use social media and it is a big part of our lives. It has both positive and negative effects. Social media helps us stay connected with family and loved ones especially when they are far away.

I find myself spending a lot of time on the social media platforms I have signed up for. I have realized that I check for messages from loved ones whenever I have a free moment and it is become a regular part of my life.
I often spend a significant amount of time on the social media platforms I have joined. I have noticed that I regularly check for messages from loved ones whenever I have a moment to spare and it has become a consistent part of my daily life.

Name five ways social media can have a negative impact on your life and that of your loved ones.

Social media can have negative effects which I believe is normal and natural. anything with positive impacts tends to have negative aspects as well. here are a few examples of how social media can affect our lives negatively.

Internet bullying

The top issue with social media as per my list may seem strange. in real life buying things usually happens in person and sometimes people act badly leading to distress. now i think about being bullied online by someone you do not even know with millions of people watching and making fun of us. It can be really tough.

Online attacks can deeply affect our minds and bodies often pushing people to extreme actions that can harm them. while social media lets us make friends worldwide it also opens the door to harmful individuals who can disrupt the things we have worked on for a long time.

Disrupted sleep routine

Social media can sometimes harm our lives more than we realize. many studies have shown that spending too much time on social media can disrupt our sleep which is not good for our health. this can happen when we intend to check Facebook for just a few minutes but end up spending over an hour browsing pictures and watching videos.

If you notice your sleep becoming irregular it iss a good idea to reduce your social media usage and get some quality rest for a few days to help your body function better.

Mood disorders

If you spend a lot of time on social media you might notice it gradually influencing your thoughts and perspectives. It often showcases the positive aspects of other peoples lives leading you to compare them with the challenges in your own life. When this happens it can affect your mental well being causing symptoms of anxiety and depression making it hard to think clearly.

You might get upset after seeing a video or picture on social media that sets unrealistic standards. To prevent this it is advisable to limit your daily social media usage to just half an hour.

Fear

Another negative impact of social media is the "fear of missing out." everyone wants to be part of the fun and hang out with friends. If you see pictures or videos of your friends having a good time without inviting you it can make you feel bad. This can create misunderstandings with your friends even though they did not mean to hurt you. this feeling is most common among teenagers who always want to be with their friends and not miss out on anything.

Comprehensive dependency

Many people are more addicted to social media than anything else in their lives. They place a higher value on their social media accounts and the time spent there than on their family and loved ones. I have seen families drift apart because one spouse becomes too engrossed in social media.

If you are uncertain about your own social media addiction try taking a day off from logging into your accounts. See how you feel that day you will likely experience some boredom and discomfort.

If you had to implement 5 rules to make sure that social media became HEALTHIER in your environment, what would they be?

If I could make social media healthier for everyone in the world i would introduce a set of rules some of this :

  1. Maintaining individuals confidentiality.

  2. supporting organizations that promote positivity on a global scale.

  3. suspending or disabling any questionable account.

  4. ensuring security.

  5. providing opportunities for all..
