Health Matters; NOISE POLLUTION

in Healthy Steem11 hours ago

Greetings to all friends,
Noise pollution is a terrible pollution for our environment. We are mentally terrified due to this pollution. Noise pollution in Bangladesh is not being controlled in any way, as a result of this pollution, many people are getting sick walking in the city. Today I am going to write about noise pollution in the healthy Steem community. I invite you @samia-jannate @mahadisalim @max-pro to participate in this competition.

What are some common sources of noise pollution in your area and how do they affect your daily life?

The main source of noise pollution in my area is vehicle horns. There are also some other things that cause noise pollution. Factory generators, loudspeakers, train noise. I get annoyed by the horns of these vehicles while walking in the city. Every vehicle uses this horn most of the time to overtake each other. In many cases, they honk for no reason, such as when stuck in a jam, there is no need to honk here, but they use the horn for no reason. During load shedding in factories, the loud noise of the generator has a serious impact on noise pollution. Continuous music or speech on loudspeakers of various events causes noise pollution in a large area. When entering and leaving the train station, the horn is honked loudly, which reaches up to 2 km.

Noise pollution causes health problems, especially the possibility of deafness is very high. It has a very serious effect on sick people. Loud noise pollution can hinder the mental and physical development of children. Loud noise disrupts the sleep of local people in the area.

How do you think noise pollution affects our health and well-being in the long term?

Noise pollution undoubtedly harms our mental and physical health in the long run. Noise pollution reduces our hearing and long-term exposure to loud noise increases the chances of deafness. Sleep is disrupted which causes physical fatigue which reduces work efficiency. Noise pollution puts people at risk of high blood pressure. Noise pollution causes short-term annoyance in people which in turn makes them excited for good work in a short time.

What are some effective ways to reduce noise pollution in urban areas? What creative solutions can you think of?

The City Corporation and the Bangladesh Government have taken many steps to reduce noise pollution in urban areas of Bangladesh but they have not been effective. In short, if the people and drivers are not aware, then no step will be effective. I will mention some steps, if the drivers follow them, then it is possible to control noise pollution in urban areas.

Reduce the number of vehicles. There are many vehicles on the city roads which are private and most of the vehicles have one passenger or are empty, reduce these vehicles and increase the number of public transport.

Use of signboards (no horn blowing) in special areas so that those areas can be marked as silent areas. Such areas would be educational institutions, hospitals, religious places.

Reduce the use of loudspeakers in various events and seminars and use speakers that can only be heard within the seminar area. Enact strict laws to control noise pollution. Punish violators with both fines and imprisonment so that others learn a lesson.

Distribute leaflets and campaigns on the harmful effects of noise pollution and promote this campaign among educational institutions and conscious citizens.

If you could design a quiet zone in your community, what would it have and why?

To design a quiet zone, I will first give importance to the environment so that a green and orderly situation prevails. To control the noise and make it quiet, I will do graffiti on the surrounding walls that will highlight the harmful effects of noise pollution. This graffiti should be visible in such a way that it is easily visible to drivers from the road and prevents them from honking excessively loud horns. Loudspeakers are prohibited in the quiet zone I have designed. There will be books by various authors, yoga spaces.

How do you think technology can help us deal with noise pollution in the future?

I think it would be better to reduce the loudness of our vehicle horns by installing horns that only reach the car in front, which would reduce noise pollution to some extent.

Technology can do many things that are more than I imagined. Technology can give us something that in certain areas (hospitals, educational institutions, religious places) the vehicle sensors can automatically deactivate the horns when they see the no sound sign on the road.

Digital monitoring that can automatically initiate the process of fines for high speed and loud vehicles. Technology is constantly surpassing our imagination. We are getting more than we expected from technology.
