There are a few points to keep in mind while buying cattle for fattening, such as:

  • Cows more than 1 year old should be bought because (12-17 months old cows are better for fattening)

  • Cows with thin skin, flattened collarbones, par mot and all those cows that are dry due to lack of food should be bought at a low price. So that it can be profitable in a short time.

Dry feed:

3% of body weight for 2-year-old cows and 2% for cows above 2-3 inches of dry straw soaked overnight in water mixed with chitagur should be provided daily. Water: Chittagur = 20:10 is best. It is better to eat less but not to eat more.

8-10 kg of raw grass or grain feed, plant by-products like mash kalai, kesari, durba etc. should be provided daily.

Granular feed:

At least 1-2 kg of granular feed should be provided daily. Below is the list of 100 kg food grains-
Broken wheat-Wheat husk 45 kg Rice bran 26 kg Kesari or any dal husk 18 kg Sesame husk-Mustard husk 22 kg Salt 1.5 kg.
In addition to the above list, vitamin mineral mixture available in the market should be fed at the rate of 1%. Also different types of urea molasses can be used. All that is required to make it is a mixture of 40 parts chitagur, 20 parts wheat husk, 20 parts rice bran, 10 parts urea and 5 parts salt.

Disease prevention and treatment:

The animal should be washed regularly every day. The area around the cow should always be kept clean. Cows should be fed deworming tablets regularly. Accommodation must be kept clean at all times. Adequate amounts of water and balanced food should be provided in a hygienic manner. Diseased animals must be isolated. Food utensils should be kept clean. If the animal is suffering from a complex disease, the advice of the veterinarian should be taken. What the veterinarian says should be followed properly and the affected cow should always be monitored. What are the needs of the cows that need to be implemented? Then there will be no harm to the cow. And in this way we have to take care of our cows all the time.
