Curator Cat: Creative Weekend with the Dad-Hooman!
Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Steemlandia!
Welcome to the weekend and welcome to another edition of the Caturday update from our little corner of the world!
An almost inseparable trio!
As you may know by now, Caturday is my favorite day of the week and it's an old piece of web lore to post pictures of your cats on Saturday. Did you know that Caturday is an almost 20 year old tradition?
The Mom-Hooman has left for a week to go visit a girlfriend of hers so we are home alone with the Dad-Hooman for a while.
There are so many good places to take naps!
Although there are now only two Hooman hands and twice as many cats to pay attention to, he's actually doing a pretty good job of making sure nobody feels neglected.
A long time ago, I remember the Hoomans talking about the fact that there should never be more cats and there are hands in a house. That means we're balanced right now, but I do remember a time in the past when there were five cats and only two Hoomans!
Nala seems to have adopted MY cat bed!
Which just goes to show you that when a cat in need shows up my Hoomans are always ready to step up and care!
Our young kittens have rapidly become "young cats" and are now pretty easily flowing with the routine of our home. They have their favorite sleeping spots and their favorite spots where they play and because they are still quite young there is an awful lot of running back and forth, up and down the stairs, and in and out of different rooms!
Cat's on the Hoomans' bed...
The other day, the Mom-Hooman remarked that it looked like I was losing a little weight because I was doing so much running around.
At first I was a little insulted by this, how dare she suggest that I've gotten fat? On the other hand, it does feel good to be a lot more active than I was before with only 20-year old Smudge for company!
Smudge is seet, but too old for running around
Don't get me wrong, I do love our Smudge but because she's so old and not all that mobile anymore she's not exactly entertainment for an 8-year old cat with youthful energy.
Prior to this I also had our dog Daisy for company and because she was rather large —compared to a cat — I was able to roughouse with her and she didn't much care or notice. But since she passed away things really got very quiet around here so I'm very happy that the kittens are with us now!
It was a very stormy autumn day outside which means the Dad-Hooman was inside, mostly planning to work on his creative stuff.
Nala, sitting on the Dad-Hooman's chair in the creativity space
I really like it when he is in the Hoomans' arts and crafts area because I can get in the middle of all the little things that he's working with, and supervise to make sure that he's doing a right and proper job!
As any good cat knows Hoomans need to be supervised to make sure that they're doing the right thing!
Shangri and Nala are doing quite well and are turning into beautiful little cats with their own personality. Actually, Shangri is going to turn into a fairly large cat we think. His frame is already about the same size as mine and he's only about six months old. We think he has a bit of Maine Coon cat in his lineage.
Shangri, being beuatiful!
Nala is still a fairly small and delicate cat but girl cats do tend to be somewhat smaller than male cats. She's very pretty and very sweet.
Getting back to Smudge, she is putting on her full winter coat, because her roots are very Nordic — Norwegian Forest cat, which were bred to be able to live outside in barns and freezing temperatures and deep snow. As a result, she turns into a huge fluff ball during the winter months.
Smudge getting brushed!
The Mom-Hooman has to groom her on a regular basis otherwise she turns into Rasta Kitty with a mess of dreadlocks!
And now I think I will get back to taking one of my naps and then go supervise the Dad-Hooman's creative efforts.
Thanks for coming by our cat blog, we appreciate your support and hope you come back and visit us again!

The best part of crafting is when pets decide to 'help'—makes everything more fun! 😹
Absolutely! There's a whole separate category for "crafting with cats!"
