The Diary Game #37: Share your day with us! A glimpse of how my Thursday went
I would rate my Thursday a 10/10 pm ticking my to-do lists for the day. But is a day without stress.
The weather was cool in the night which meant I slept soundly not the one you will sleep only to wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat from heat.
Morning
First, in the morning, I had to hop on my client's page I'm managing to engage with his customers.
When I had handled my tasks as a social media manager by 11:30 am, though it seems like an easy job, one you only have to be scrolling through social media countless times, it is more than that. I also thought it would be easy but as the days went by, it became much clearer.
Breakfast
I had time to eat breakfast before heading to the market to get some foodstuffs. Though the value of dollars which is affecting the prices of foodstuff in Nigeria has decreased, the prices of foodstuff are still very high.
It's disheartening that you make a list of all the things you want to buy, and get to the market only to see the prices have tripled. Anyway, I was able to get some things with the money I went to the market with.
I had to buy charcoal to conserve my gas till another day, prepared vegetable soup and went to prepare for the webinar I'm moderating later in the evening.
My pot of soup
I got a call later in the day to process some payments for my community to waybill my branded T-shirt which I had to pick up the next day.
Evening
In the evening, I moderated an event moderated an event. I almost had cold feet, but after giving myself a pep talk, I spoke with the guest speaker. A renowned Personal Brand Coach and a Certified Storyteller, who through her brand has helped over 100+ corporate individuals build an authentic brand online.
The webinar
I went over the questions with her before the event started. Some major questions she addressed was👇
Why is it important for one to build their personal brand? Because how you position yourself is the thing that makes you different from others.
What are some common mistakes to avoid when building a personal brand?
- Faking it. People can smell inauthentic person miles away.
- Not showing up often. Just like in Steemit, one has to be active to really make headway.
- To neglect your community.
How can one use their personal brand to stand out in a competitive job market?
By showing their knowledge of an industry on their page. Educating theri audience on tips, strategies of something. This way, your future employers are certain that your personal brand can boost the company's presence too.How can one leverage social media to build a brand and connect with potential employers?
How can one remain authentic to themselves while building a personal brand online?
She talked about how one can build their brand through their content by telling stories that our audience can resonate with. Content that provides solutions to people's problems.
It made me reflect it to Steemit, and how people have built a solid representation of themselves here. Nobody will be made a Steemit representative if they've not consistently shown up with content, encouraging comments and upvotes.
