Macaroni

 

Johny was a little boy who turned 5 year old this year but since he was a little child and the time he was able to chew he loved macaroni for his lunch. Despite of his mother always put him a little children fork to help him to eat, Johny always took a piece in his hand because that was a fun to eat with fingers. The favourite food had also a favourite sauce and it was a Ketchup from brand “Heinz”. The mother of Johny tried many different sauces of course, containing tomatoes but also those that were looking the same, still the little boy was able to find that it was not the right one and was not keen to eat them until his favourite ketchup was there.

The mealtime with macaroni was not only to eat because of being hungry, no, it was time for play. Often when Johny’s Granny was there she had a lot of fun but Johny was happy too to have his Granny there, because mother was a bit strict and often did not like his to do what he liked to do.

While having a plate with macaroni and Ketchup his first thing was to check if the Ketchup was correct, he usually dipped a finger into Ketchup and licked it. The it took about a minute or so but you could read it on Johny’s face, if he was smiling then the Ketchup was correct if not then it was wrong.

The next thing it was he usually took a piece of macaroni and put it with one end into his mouth and another into his drink and he used it as a straw, drinking his water. Every time when he thought out something he looked into his Granny’s face and was happy to see that he made his Granny smile too.

After that he took the macaroni into his fingers and put it into Ketchup trying to take as much as possible and to eat. After all the games and laugh he usually finish his meal and then ready for more games.

Slowly throughout the years Johny is grown up, he is a student now and lived with his student friends in hostel. The time is busy and often they are not able to eat or drink in time, there was time when he even missed his meal and it was too late. In those cases he often thought about the dinner with his Granny and about delicious plate of macaroni with Ketchup. When he was buying pasta he always paid attention that he buys macaroni even now so many years later he knew that they taste different they are more delicious and another reason why he loved to buy then was that this gave him a feeling of his home. Those days he always phoned his Granny and had a chat with her, told her about his time and any news. For him it was something like a chain that was connecting him and his childhood but also his dear people his Granny and parents.
