Journey Of A New Dolphin
Meet the New Dolphin
I still remember the first time I joined Steemit.
I was asked to by a Dutch lady and I agreed to do so with a writing partner.
At first, I mainly read and tried to understand what Steemit was about. To be honest I found it difficult.
While lying in bed I read, wrote, upvoted and left some comments. This was basically what I did. I powered up but never withdrew an amount.
To be honest it still beats me how people back then could earn so much. It turned out there were voting bots, tricks I never understood or was introduced to.
My start was lonely and after my writing partner left (we wrote stories together, the same story in turn whatever popped up in our minds) the only thing I could do was to continue writing, posting, commenting and upvoting.
After several months I left. No matter what I did I was unable to get in touch with other Steemians.
One post of me, one of the very first, did receive a "high" upvote but I had no clue what to do with it. Those 80 dollars remained in my wallet for over one year.
After a break of some weeks, I decided to give Steemit a second chance.
I wrote, posted and later on met the lady who asked me back then again at @alldutch how to withdraw Steem. She must have been thinking I was kidding her but I was not. I hadn't the slightest idea what to do with the Steem in my wallet after 1 year of joining the platform. The amount I had was reduced to 34 dollars. She explained how to withdraw while we both being online. I am still grateful for her help and although we are no longer in touch I still think of her once in a while.
On a Saturday morning, I joined @marblely, my neighbour on a list meant to grow together on Steemit, by upvoting, reading and encouraging each other, in her #ccc contest. Ia was to write a story with emoticons only which was quite a challenge. It took me several hours to do so with my phone.
Thanks to her I was introduced to the @ccc community where I received a warm welcome.
Around the same time I joined the freewriters.
They were all very helpful, especially @mariannewest, and encouraging and it was nice to focus on creative writing, word games, and puzzles for the brain instead of long epistles which most Steemians are not interested in reading.
Unfortunately, Steemit is not the place where you find people who love to read but there are many great writers, who started on this platform and we're willing to share their stories, poetry and art with this platform. Like back then I notice that they are rarely rewarded. It's kind of sad if you consider that. These authors have so much to offer and are an enrichment for this platform.
There was a time when I was very active on Steemit and I was in the top 3 commenters as well. Indeed reading others, upvoting and commenting took the biggest part of my day. Unlike others, I do not have a laptop plus I was writing while lying in bed while struggling with the slowest internet connection on earth. It was and still is hard to load Steemit.
Most Steemians I met left after a big fight on Steemit.
Those Steemians started a new platform. The fact that I wanted to stay and see how Steemit would do wasn't appreciated. I was scolded at, received terrible pictures and till today my stomach turns if I think back to that period. There was a hostile atmosphere before and even after those people left. The downvoting on posts of "the enemy" started, and those who invested in SBI were punished. It's a good thing this is the internet and these were not neighbours in real life throwing rocks at me. I decided to stay and keep writing and posting even if I was ignored by the "entire" platform, even though I no longer felt welcome.
What happened with my Steem during all those years?
Besides powering up, I gave most of it away.
I was a member of @CCC and @freewritehouse. I donated and hosted contests on their behalf (at least three times a week) and was happy if I earned enough to pay those who joined the contests.
But it turned out that it, I, was never good enough and strangely enough most of those I helped, read, upvoted, and commented on during all those years did not do the same for me.
My journey on Steemit taught me that most Steemians are only here to make a living. A quick post and they leave. This is for sure not always about greed. Another fact is many users do not have access to the internet 24/7 and... I am one of them.
There were times I wrote offline and drove 13 kilometres to use the free wifi of the library, next, I sat for 2-3 hours in the cold on a bench outside to be an active member of Steemit. The truth is I can no longer do that.
I tried to hang in, kept hosting contests, giving away the Steem I earned, but to be honest from the moment I gave up hosting for the freewriters and CCC I felt relieved. Indeed those communities fell apart.
I saw others grow, doing well while with me everything remained the same. All that was left was stress so it was a good thing for me to leave.
And now I am back again.
I told myself I could try again. This time for me. First writing twice, perhaps three times a week, no stress. I admit I still have no clue about all those great things Steemit has to offer but I am excited to learn more, and meet new people but not at all costs.
Thanks to @patjewell I finally understand what #club5050 means and I am happy I found a new community to join (most communities I once subscribed to turn out to be dead). Thanks Steem For Ladies for the warm embrace and a special thanks to @patjewell for taking the time to explain how to start on the new Steemit and for answering each one of my questions!
Hurray, I am no longer a small fish!
Finally, I turned into a dolphin! It was a long road and it was about time.
This is a brand new start for me and I intend to learn and grow. After all those years of struggling and investing in this platform and others (and also because a dolphin is not my favourite animal) this is the best thing I can do. I have no intention to give up again. I like to write, I love to read and I am looking forward to my next milestone which is? Anyone?
The pictures are mine!

Oh wow!
What a Steemit story you have to tell!
All that I can tell you is that you are one of a kind, and I am so glad that I could help you. What makes helping Steemians all worth it is when they listen. Thank you for listening.
Now let me tell you something, @ngoenyi was my mentor when I returned to Steemit. I even bugged her while she was attending a wedding. (•ิ‿•ิ)
Enjoy this dolphin.
In answer to your question,
Another dolphin!
Keep on posting, keep on voting, keep on commenting, and keep on powering up!
You are the super guider now. You are doing great. Cheers
Awh!!! Thank you to you! 🎕
I will, I will and I will. No worries I listen and follow each step although I have to admit I don't always understand what is asked (same if it comes to the contests).
I guess if it comes to it even Steemit is a small world and you just like @ngoenyi are not only super guiders but have (created) the best and most loyal Steemians as well. I feel so blessed I've met you.
🍀❤️
And you are going to do even more
I'm already multitasking, 2 pair of hands only and am a mobile writer only but hey, I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the faith. 🍀❤️
Multitasking! That's the right word. Keep moving, no stopping, no parking, no waiting. Always on the move
I'm already multitasking, 2 pair of hands only and am a mobile writer only but hey, I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the faith. 🍀❤️
You must definitely join @ngoenyi's community.
They are awesome!!

I'm encouraged by your Steemit story, thank God you never gave up and thanks to Steem for ladies and ma'am @patjewell, who made Steemit fun and easier for you.
Congratulations!
Thank you for your kind words!!! 🎕
It makes me want to do so much more!
It's always my pleasure, ma'am.
I am glad to hear you are encouraged by reading my journey. Looking back it was hard but I also remember the good times I had, the excitement of visiting Steemit as soon as I woke up.
I feel the same excitement again and it fills me with energy.
There are great people on this platform, we only need to find them.
I wish you all the best!
🍀❤️
That's great, there are truly great people here. I hope to share my story here some day because I almost gave up.
Thank you, for the courage once again.
Please, don't. Even if you need a break do not give up. I just read two of your posts and it's worth the read. Not posting on a daily base is not a problem though.
🍀❤️
Thank you, I won't give up. Strength regained to go ahead and forward. 👍😃
👍
A big congratulations to you @wakeupkitty, the story behind your steemit journey isn't an easy one. But I am glad that you kept pushing relentlessly. Your story gave me a touch in my heart and right now, I feel emotional already, as for @patjewell, she's a mother, an advocate, a teacher, a helper, sometimes I wonder where she gather such strength from to carry everyone along. God bless you ma'am. And hey kitty, steemladies community loves you and welcomes you greatly. Cheers!!!. I look forward to your greater success ahead... Happy dolphin celebration even though you don't like dolphins.
Thank you so much for your congratulations, kind words and warm, overwhelming welcome.
I understand @patjewell is one of the best dolphins to meet if you are swimming in this unknown ocean. I am gratefull she reached out to me and hope I won't disappoint her for investing her time in me..
My guess is she has a good nose if it comes into investing as well. If it works out well it gives a lot of energy. She must be great in scheduling too.
🍀❤️
Awh! Thank you for your beautiful words my friend.
You have warmed my heart on a rainy day. (づ๑•ᴗ•๑)づ
Congratulations dear on becoming a new dolphin.
I really enjoyed your writing and quite relate a lot with your journey of continuously coming back to steemit❤
It's surely gonna be a fun to read from your side, and to know how did you become a dolphin while knowing nothings about club5050 and withdrawal process:p
Waiting for your secret spells🌷
I mainly posted, read and upvoted and that was it.
I tried to figure out how to withdraw but had no idea how to do it.
So the first year the Steem remained in my wallet.
Someone explained how to withdraw but that method turned out to be no longer available for me.
A few years later I discovered Bitvavo. I asked them if I could withdraw Steem via them. So today I use Bitvavo. It's easy but I hardly use it because I never earned much. There was nothing to withdraw.
About 1.5 years ago I noticed some used the tag #club5050 and I tried to figure out what is was but had no clue.
It's only since a day or 4 I know the idea @patjewell
explained it to me. Do you join club5050 or?
So I don't have any secret spells just met once in a while during all those years on this platform some great people. Most of them left, some died longer ago.
🍀❤️
Surrounding yourself with good company is the key to success, i would take that from here:)
I'm sorry for your people's loss dear.
This platform can be a very lonely place if there's no one reaches out to you and gives you a hand.
To be honest 70% of the time I have no clue about what is explained, about rules one need to follow, and so on.
Quess my English is not good enough or it only makes sense for insiders?
The good thing about me writing is I do it anyway. If I can't do it here there are other platforms. Besides I am still an old fashioned (pen and paper) pen pal.
Thanks for your kind words. I wish you a great day.
❤️
Obviously your English is good it only requires a person a teach some technical and editing skills on steemit. Rest of the things are align with the journey is explore and learn:)
Lovely, i have fondness for people who write and read as if they live for it❤
Thank you for your encouraging words. I will find a way to figure out what is possible as a mobile writer.
A great weekend to you.
🍀❤️
You have a way with words, thank you for taking us through your journey on Steemit. It's not easy but one way or the other, we will keep showing up when it matters. You met a gem in the form of our Mama @patjewell, she is amazing and never ceases to use any opportunity to help others grow.
A big congratulations to you @wakeupkitty.
Awh! Thank you for your kind words! 🎕
Thank you Mama
Congratulations on becoming a dolphin dear! Your journey has not been easy but I am glad that you are here and you have been helped by @patjewell who is also my friend. She is good at that. Keep swimming in the ocean. I wish you so many successes
Thank you so much for your encouraging words. @patjewell did put a lot of time and effort in helping me. I am so gratefull to her and thanks to her filled with energy.
I will keep swimming since I know how it feels to drown.
🍀❤️
That was great post to read.
Can't believe you don't like dolphins 🙄
Thanks for the two dolphins 😁
The reason why I don't like them is because they are not as kind and special as people say. They are rapists and swimming with dolphins isn't as safe as they say. 🤔
🍀❤️
Congratulations!! The swim was worth it.
We wish you plenty more dolphins!
The team!
Thank you! Dolphis only? How about being a whale (and everything in between)? Those "fishes" no longer exist?
🍀❤️
💕
It's good to have you back. I read all your journey on this platform and I was present in those cases. We fought for those contests and I gave up many times too. Good that you got the point about the club. I understood it in the communities, reading what you posted in your contests. I finally understood it.
We'll read each other friend, success. Congratulations.
I am happy we both are back. I guess we are the die-hards, the strong ones and survivors after all.
Great you figured it out about club5050, I just did.
How's your son doing?
A warm hug to you. 🍀❤️
I was about to tell you a few days ago why you didn't put a club on your tags and I forgot.
You know that you can place the club 75 if you spend more than 3 months taking only 75% of the steem you earn per month, at the time of power up. and leaving 25% for you.
and you can also place the club 100 if you have spent more than 6 months or so without taking anything from your steem. doing powerup with 100%. That's what I do because I haven't withdrawn anything from steem in the whole of last year, everything I've turned on the first day of every month.
Hope this works for you.
My son is doing well, always working online. How are your boys doing?
I just startefld with the club5050 I was told to.
Before I did not withdraw, I rarely do and was absent for 11 months or so?
Now they told me it's better to withdraw once a month. I will try that for 3 months and see if I go to the next step.
How about burn Steem?
Last summer the youngest worked 3 months in Germany. I travelled many times over there. It was kind of a disaster.
This year school wants them to work abroad for 6 months. Since there's not much chouce and it's in the same area I try to realize a hotel of our choice is posdible. The hotel already agreed, school is very slow. If this is posdible the youngest will stay with my daughters.
My son passed his exam last year and worked during the summer. He has an extra year and mire exams. He's looking for an university and will have to work too. There's no way we can pay 10.000 a year, next books, traveling costs or a place in a student home.
It would be better if he works 1 year before he goes to the university.
So it's a bit stressful but at least my son has a job and they all are very helpful and kind.
🍀❤️
You have had a lot of activities lately.
I'm glad the boy is clear on what he wants to do. Work, save and then go to college.
The 5050 club is to withdraw 50% for yourself and do powerup with the other 50%.
I never withdrew anything all year. Now that I am going to start with the 5050 club I have not been able to write or earn enough steem to make the powerup this 1st of the month.
So you use club100 because you did not withdraw.
Doesn't it mean you have to power up every bit of Steem?
Perhaps you should do that if it's not much and once you earn more do the club5050?
All year I was turning on all my steem, I understood and read that I could use the 100 club because of that. and every start of the month I turn on all my steem. This month I'm going to retire half and turn on the other half, I'm going to start using the 50 club again.
Okay, now I understand. Thanks for explaining. 🍀❤️
How many steem power corresponds to being a Dolphin?
You need 5000 SP
They told me now you collect Dolphins. So if you have 10000 you have 2 Dolphins. I don't know why but that's how it works now.
A lot of Steem is needed to achieve that. 🤔
