The Diary Game #29: Share your day with us!

Hi diary,

It's been long since I wrote to you, I have been busy, I paid to learn a new skill (tailoring) I'll tell you all about it tomorrow, but for now, let me tell you how my yesterday went.

" Do you love weddings?. When ever I hear weddings. There's this sense of joy I get for the couples, wedding is a big ceremony where two people are Joined together as one. "

MORNING SECTION

Yesterday was actually a fun filled day actually, I had been previously invited for a wedding that was to held that yesterday, the wedding held at Imo state. I was actually invited to perform my song live at the wedding. Yesterday morning, I woke up as early as 5am, did all my chores, dressed up and headed to Ik, that was where the bus that was carrying us to Imo state was at. On reaching the compound it was already 7am. The bus did not even arrived yet.

I wasn't actually surprised, cause as a Nigerian, there's what we call African time. And I was used to it, we had to wait another 1hour, before the bus finally came. At 8:30 everyone was set on the bus, we prayed and we started our journey.

AFTERNOON SECTION

The journey was a 4 hours own, there were a lot of police men on the road, and it delayed us, atleast I was able to buy 2 plantain chips worth #200 to eat as I didn't eat at home. We got to Imo state by 12:45pm, since the white wedding was still going on in the church, the bus took us to church direct.

The white wedding that was supposed to end by 12pm, ended up lasting till 2pm, the pastor really preached for long. After the white wedding, immediately we headed back to the compound for the traditional marriage.

EVENING SECTION

Now this was the fun part of the entire marriage ceremony. We had a display of two cultures, the husband first of all came out in his "Efik attire" with his men, while the first of all came out with her "Igbo attire" with her Aseobi. Then she later changed to her husband's attire, the typical Akwa Ibom woman dressing. The were alot of dancing and spraying of money that day. But while all these was sha going on, me and my co artist were rehearsing to sing our song.

I decided to take a few pictures of my outfit while we were rehearsing, time flew very fast and I was thinking we wouldn't perform again, but on the dire minutes, the MC eventually gave us 5 minutes to sing, everything ended up being a rush and nothing went as plan, but we sha still got supported, we were sprayed money both in naira and dollars. Minutes later the marriage eventually came to an end, and everyone started finding their means home, the bus I came with left and I didn't have plans of following them, because I hate night journeys, so I and my friend and his nephew lodged in an hotel close by.

On getting to the hotel, I was already very tired and hungry, we couldn't afford the hotel food as the price was outrageous and the food were scarce, so the nephew went back to the marriage ground and brought us food, we all ate together and slept.
