Hi great steemians, it's another wonderful week to make wonderful choices.
Of all five items given, I would make just one and what do I choose......
Oh!!! and I would love to invite; @bee5, @twinkly, @bela90 what would your choices be.
That being said, I choose no3. A rose. Let's see why;
My choice: A Rose |
---|
Roses are the king of flowers, when it comes to popularity, beauty, fame, usage and nobility, none beats the rose🌹.
Though the red rose (🌹) is most popular, do you know that we have over a hundred and fifty different types of roses with different colours which have different meanings.
Let's talk about some of the colours of these rose and their significance;
- Red Roses: you can guess, the popular red rose stands for love. So rather than bore your intended lover (crush) with over-exaggerated love lines and promises that ascends the heaven, why not give him/her a red rose. Then come thank me later 😉.
- Yellow Roses: Bright as the sun, incredible and beautiful are yellow roses. Their vibrant colour signifies friendship.
- White Roses: Found someone who is innocent and pure in this murky world, or someone you want to start a new life with, what better gift could you give than a white rose which signifies purity and a new beginning. No wonder it is used by brides on their wedding day.
- Pink Roses just the colour alone qualifies it to be a rose flower that represents sweetness. Surprise your partner, bestie or relationship who's been so sweet to you with a pink rose flower.
Another cool fact abou the rose is that in some lands and cultures like the English people of England, the number of roses also has a unique meaning just like their colours.
For example, one rose is seen as a sign of loyalty and unwavering devotion, three roses are symbols for happiness, satisfaction and fulfillment. Six roses symbolises the desire to be loved, 😄 while nine roses is used to say I'm sorry. Amazing you will agree with me.
Let's consider the parts of a rose.
The image above is a rose in all its glory, here is a breakdown some of its parts.
It has unique petals which gives it colour.
It has the green underneath the petals which are called sepals. And the stem as well as leaves and the reproductive parts.
Another one of the most important part of a rose flower is it fruit, known as "Rose hips" . It is a bright small red fruit that is fleshy and comes out after a rose flower has bloomed.
Usefulness of a rose
Many people limit the usefulness of flowers to just beauty, but that is not so for a rose as it has plentiful uses. Here are a few I can think of.
Roses contains many skin friendly minerals and it is utilized my many pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies to make creams, balms and other skin care products.
It goes without doubt that roses have a beautiful smell, this property makes it a first choice for most perfume makers and spa users.
Roses especially the red ones are one of the world most recognised best gift of love. Who doesn't want to use a rose during his/her wedding.
Remember, I said earlier we have over 150 species of roses. Do you know the petals of some are very delicious and edible. Go check it out.
A garden full of roses is the haven or beauty, birds, butterflies .....oh, it's a beautiful paradise all together. I would not want to miss it for anything in the world.
Not to forget it's economic importance, Go ask any florist around you the cost of a single red rose you would appreciate those who tends to the roses.
The Rose aesthetic sense is so beautiful that most backgrounds pales in comparison to it. Even if a monster takes a picture with a garden of rose, it's beauty is breathtaking.
And the rose refuses to be left out when it comes to mans health. Do you know that, before the advent of modern medicine, rose petals were used to relieve sore throats and stomach aches. (Am as surprised as you are).
A talk with a knowledgeable dermatologist (Skin doctor) would tell you that Rose water has been utilised to treat plenteous skin conditions. It is also believed to have anti-inflammatory (prevents swelling or skin break and other skin related issues) and anti-bacterial properties.
Rose hips or Rose fruits are nutritious as they are high in antioxidants, vitamin C, calcium and iron which helps the eye, heart and other part of the human body.
- Rose hips is also used in making Jam, jelly, and is also used in making wines.
