This phrase "Don't bite the finger that fed you" is an idiomatic expression which means;-

(A layman might say "am I a baby or a child that I should bite someone's finger"? And why would I even allow someone to feed me, when I'm not a child?.....😀😀, my friend you are right with your reasoning; after all English is not our "mother tongue", it is just a borrowed language so I understand with you perfectly.

But as I said earlier that the phrase is categorized under an English term known as "idioms"

Now; what are idioms?

Idioms are those figurative expressions or phrases which has different meanings from the literal meaning of an individual words.

Hence; the meaning of the phrase 👇

You should not pay anyone back with ingratitude or disloyalty; the phrase is a warning that is used to caution people......

Don't betray someone who has been there for you through thick and thin
Don't harm someone who has done nothing wrong but helped and supported you,
Don't even conceive evil in your heart towards someone who has shown you kindness.
Don't turn against someone or a benefactor who has cared for you.

Let me share a true life story of a typical example of "bitting the finger that fed you".

I have a cousin named "Jane" who has a best friend called "Joy"; both of them were staying together but it was my cousin that owns the apartment, so she was just harbouring and helping Joy the friend.

These duo did almost everything together; they share their secret with each other.
Meanwhile my cousin Jane had a man who proposed to marry her but the man was staying abroad. The man's name was Fred, I can't forget.
So Fred has been communicating with my cousin through phone on daily basis; unknown to my cousin her friend Joy developed Jealousy and envy about my cousin; so she stole Fred's contact from my cousin's phone and started feeding him with lies on how my cousin is sleeping with different men; that my cousin is not who he think she is....

But the beautiful thing is that the man was a wise and smart, he didn't believe her lies but had to confirm it by contacting his friend to spy on my cousin, then Jane was proven innocent and my cousin's finance warned my cousin against her friend Joy and told her everything she has been telling him about her.
That was how my cousin ended their friendship and kicked her out of her house.

My people would say "fehe owo" meaning "fear humans".

Hi @tripple-e,

I enjoyed reading your entry. It's really hard to trust people. It's useless to have friends who stab you in the back; those are the most dangerous people to be around. 'Fehe owo' is the right saying!

Thank you for sharing an amazing story and a great advice...
