Choices! What will it be? #69
It's a pleasure to be here once again making choices after a while!
A beautiful session we have here with different items dragging my attention but my choice for this session is patterns.
A little pattern made by me.
Patterns are repeated designs that are used to fill up surfaces that are either plain or need some beautification.

An example of patterns
Patterns are made by designers and each pattern depicts the picture a designer sees in his subconscious mind. Some patterns are made to send messages, some are made to denote a tradition, some are made of objects we find around us, some are made for religious outings, some are made just for aesthetics. Some patterns can be decoded when seen and some may be coded easily which gives the impression that some patterns are meant and understood by certain persons.
Patterns could be used for decorating bags, book covers, magazines, labels of different products, fabrics, screens as wallpapers , walls of offices, homes and museums, etc. It is safe to say that patterns in earnest add beauty to everything it is attached to. It doesn't just add beauty but also gives meaning to these objects.
Making patterns is an art of designing and could pass as a full time job or a part time job. The mind of a designer who makes patterns is one that is embedded with creativity and so much wielding power and that gives them the ability to be able to bring into reality a presumed design. The design may not be perfectly done in their minds but they add the perfect touch and these designs come out as though the designer just breathed and they appeared. Designing patterns is time demanding and thought provoking. For one to bring a pattern to perfection, one needs more than the mind. Designing patterns would need materials like different kinds of pencil, pens, a surface (could be a fabric, board, paper, etc.), colours, ruler, compass, brushes, stencils, etc. Some patterns are designed using the computer (graphic designIng).
As a child, I had clothing made up of fabrics that were called plain and patterned. Yes, your guess is as good as my thoughts! The fabric usually comes in a pair where one has a plain colour and the other, which is called the patterned, is designed with patterns. The plain and patterned fabric always came in 3 yards for each part. Those times, the plain part of the fabric was usually used to make the blouse and the patterned skirt or the other way depending on the style the owner of the fabric had need of. That fabric actually took over the fashion and design industry at that time and believe me when I say, it was worth every hype it got.
During my secondary school days when I had the opportunity to study fine art, we made the most out of the subject from making tye and dye for fabrics to beautifying coconut shell as flower vase, to making flower boxes with different colours abc designs of fabric to making our portraits and finally to making designs from splashes of liquid colour where we had to make patterns using pen and followed the patterns to make beautiful designs. Oh, how I loved the outcome of those patterns!
The use of patterns to make artworks cannot be overemphasized as this makes up most of the beautiful pieces we see around us. We can find designs of artworks made with patterns used to beautify walkways, offices, homes, etc., use as wallpapers on our phones, used in beautifying classrooms for kids, etc. We can make patterns from random things, you should try it and see the beautiful outcome you'd get.

Do you are aware that nature makes a beautiful pattern. Go to the forest and watch how the sunlight falls through the tree canopy to the ground, producing a lovely pattern of light and shadow. It's a wonderful pattern.
Consider how, when it rains, the droplets of water on a glass door in our home creating a beautiful patterns. All of those natural patterns are the actual patterns that humans may regard as attractive.
Yes, friend.
Nature has a way of giving us perfect examples to situations.
I'd observe more to get acquainted with nature's patterns.
Thank you for stopping by.
Thank you for taking part in this week's contest.
Oh gosh, I remember those "tie-and-dye" T-Shirts we made as kids. I even had a dream of becoming a millionaire by selling them. (•ิ‿•ิ)
Patterns are with us wherever we go. Just look around you and see how it fills your life. Never boring.
Best wishes!
