CONCERT

To perform music before an audience live is to give a concert.A musical performance can be given by a solo artist (in which case it is called a recital) or by an ensemble (in which case it is more accurately described as an orchestra, choir, or band).

Concerts can be found in a wide range of venues, from intimate settings like living rooms and tiny clubs to larger multi-use spaces like arenas and stadiums.

HISTORY OF CONCERT

This landmark has been around since the 17th century. However, it is widely acknowledged that the English musician John Bannister established the first paid admission concerts. Concerts attracted greater crowds in the following centuries, and classical symphonies were immensely popular. After WWII, these gatherings evolved into the contemporary concerts we see today.

CONCERT GENRES

Different types of music, different performers, and different settings all contribute to making each concert unique. They include;

RECITAL

A recital is a concert given by a single performer or a small ensemble that usually has a set schedule. It often features a soloist with piano accompaniment but can also feature a composer's oeuvre or a specific instrument.

For example, a dance presentation could feature dozens of performers. A dance recital is a public performance of choreographed dance routines for an audience, often at a recognised performing arts facility and sometimes in a competitive setting. It's the season for several dancing performances.

Some performers or groups are known for their extravagant and pricey productions. Performers may often use supplemental entertainment equipment to create a more memorable and thrilling ambiance and to improve the spectacle. Intricate stage lighting, electronic visuals from a (IMAG) system or prerecorded video, inflatable sets, artwork or other set pieces, theatrical smoke and fog, pyrotechnics and eccentric costumes are all examples.

Concertgoers might dance, sing, and even "mosh" during these events.

Concerts of classical music typically feature both orchestral and choir performances.

Numerous ensembles, both large and small, conduct classical music concerts in concert halls and other performance spaces.

Concerts can be classified as chamber music, chamber orchestra, or symphony orchestra depending on the number of performers and the kind of instruments utilised.

The members of a chamber orchestra typically number between ten and forty, and they play stringed instruments under the direction of a conductor.

• In contrast, a symphony orchestra is a large-scale orchestra of 80 or more players, who play instruments like strings, woodwinds, brass instruments, and percussion under the direction of a conductor.

chorus music, opera, and musical theatre are just some of the concert genres that feature chorus type works. Each of these ensembles features a large number of vocalists under the direction of an experienced conductor.

Live performances by rock bands for fans of the genre can range from intimate club shows to massive stadium extravaganzas. Nowadays, mosh pits may be seen at many rock performances. Rock concerts typically be played at decibel levels that are dangerously close to the point of permanent hearing damage.
