THE DIARY GAME: MY FRIDAY'S EXPERIENCE AT SCHOOL // BY @young-ancient
Good day great Steemians, i remain @young-ancient and it's a always a pleasure for me to be able to post here on Steamit.
I will be talking about my Friday's experience at school yesterday. Friday is the fifth day of a week. In the Nigerian Universities, most faculties and departments sideline FRIDAY to be a traditional wear-day, where all students over the campuses dress and appear colourfully in pure African attires. This policy also applys to my school, Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, precisely in the prestigious Faculty of Law.
IN THE MORNING
Early hours of yesterday, I woke up quite early at 3am. After my morning prayers, I started reading my books I read till 6am. Shocked by how the time ran, I hurriedly went to the kitchen to prepare food for family before leaving for school. My younger sister later asked me that "Do I have lectures on Friday morning too?". From her question, I remembered it's Friday and I had to pick a native dress and iron by then it was 6:45am already and I had morning lectures by 8am. Without wasting time, I decided to wear an English wear, a gown with black and white design so I won't be chased out of the class for improper dressing. I left the house to school at 7:20am.
As a law student in BSU, Fridays are my only free wear-day even so it's very restricted. The guys can't wear jeans on Friday, ladies are not allowed to wear trousers to class and so on. When one is found guilty violating the dress code, his or her punishment lies in the discretion of the lecturers. They might sent you out of the class, collect your matriculation number to reduce your not earned marks in the exams, call your parent's attention and so on. While going to school, I was only praying for them not to chase me out of the class for wearing a non-native.
AT SCHOOL
The commercial law lecturer came to the class at 8:15am and the first thing he noticed was the dress code of the students. I was really scared that he might sent me out if his class but he only advised us to follow the rules contained in our Constitution of Law Students' Association of Nigeria,( BSU CHAPTER). I'm saved, I happily whispered to myself.
After the first two lectures which terminated by 12noon, I went the law park to sit, have my alone time and also enjoy the warmth of the sun. Suddenly, a lady to the park and she was looking for a clean seat for all the empty seats were dusty. I called her attention to sit on bench for I had cleared the whole bench before sitting on it. We sat together for awhile and then she asked me my level and I told her. After chatting for a while, I discovered she was a 100Level student who came for manual screening at the faculty. Giving her a piece of advice on how to become an effective law student in our faculty, I left the park for my last lecture of the day which was oil and gas. So I attended all my lectures yesterday without being noticed by the lecturers for improper dressing.
CONCLUSION
Apart from my classes yesterday, the weather in Makurdi was not favourable for me. The weather was cold, breezy and full of dust. I was really cold and I couldn't breathe properly so I had to cover my face mask to reduce the quantity of air intake and dust. The weather was like that throughout the day.
At 3:00pm, when I was done with my lectures, I went home. Getting home, food was already prepared which made happy because I was tired and famished. After eating, I washed the plates and tidy up the kitchen and by 7:30pm, I was already in bed. That's was a goodnight to everyone in the house. I had a deep, peaceful and long sleep.
