Introduction
The steemit blockchain is home to lots of great, amazing, and original content. Authors on the steemit blockchain can create and publish content based on their niche while some contents may require extensive research on the topic, it can be fun writing about what you love and passionate about but there a huge contrast when it comes to topics we are not familiar with or have little knowledge about Due to this fact bloggers search for external sources with enough information on the topic, and this often leads to Plagiarism

Why avoid Plagiarism
Plagiarism can be defined as stealing, using another person's intellectual property which could be represented in words or graphical, posing such as your own. In order words, Plagiarism could be considered Fraud and subject to copyright infringement. Some instances of plagiarism include-

  • Making a complete copy and paste of another writer's work.
  • Copying part of another writer's work without giving credit.
  • Changing the words of another writer's sentence or paragraph to make it look different and many more.

Plagiarism is unethical in all spaces and the same with the steemit community, the steemit community has zero-tolerance for Plagiarism and has tools in place to detect and punish posts with a hint of Plagiarism. below are some of the reasons why you should avoid Plagiarism as a steemit blogger-

  • Plagiarism is fraud like we rightly stated at the beginning of this post and stealing is not acceptable in the steemit
community neither is it in the real world.

  • Steemit runs on Proof of Brain consensus, which entails that bloggers create original content. Creating plagiarized posts is not profitable neither does it add original information to the steemit blockchain in general. In fact, newbies are required to make a post on content etiquette.

  • Making plagiarized in the steemit blockchain could ruin your reputation and worth especially when your post is flagged for Plagiarism.

These are some of the reasons why bloggers in the steemit blockchain should avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism also extends to the use of images. Using an image that is not of your creation without outlining the image source is also considered plagiarism.

How to detect and avoid plagiarism

Creating original content free of plagiarism is possible and very obtainable especially if newbies and existing steemains have a basic knowledge of what plagiarism is all about. If you have had the habit of copying information from external sources and presenting them as your own, you can break these habits by doing the following below--

  • Develop your own ideas and write them down instead of copying or Paraphrasing your source's ideas, preferably read the subject and try as much possible to make the words you write your own. Gain an understanding of the topic then write them down in your own format.

  • Cite your sources correctly, for instance, writers writing in @steemitacademy program may sometimes have to make a direct copy and paste of a statement from the team of the project they are writing on, in this case, they must cite the sources correctly and directly by quoting the statement with a source. Below is an example.

The World Economic Forum anticipates that 10% of all gross domestic product will be stored on some form of distributed ledger by 2027. Already banks, regulators, and financial exchanges are researching ways to adapt blockchain technology to securely record data on stocks, bonds, property deeds, or even the energy distributed over smart grids.source

  • Run a plagiarism test on your post before posting here on the steemit blockchain. This step will help you to identify and get rid of any trace of plagiarism before it goes to the public.

There are a lot of free tools that you can make use of to check for plagiarism-

  1. Plagiarism Checker by Grammarly

  2. Small SEO Tools Plagiarism Checker

These suggestions will go a long way in riding your posts of plagiarism. This will make all of your posts original and premium content.
