The diary game: My duty week - day 3 // by @viachioma97

Greetings to my dear friends and fellow steemains. I hope you all had an awesome day? well, mine was a bit stressful.
It is my pleasure to share with you on how my duty week at Federal Government college, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom has been.

Being on duty, means that you will co-ordinate the activities of the students from raising hour to light out as it is a boarding school. As a National Youth Corper serving in the institution, your name is expected to appear in one of the weeks in a term. One good thing about being on duty, is that you will get to eat free food for one week.
My duty week started on Sunday 24th, July 2021, on that day, students were resuming from their one week Salah break. Hence, there was no much work to do and so, I made up my mind to start the duty on Tuesday.
I woke up very early on Tuesday morning, had a bath, dressed in a yellow polo and blue jeans and a black cap. I dressed so causal because, I know I will be going back home after they have had breakfast, as I do not have classes to take on that day.

Immediately, I finished dressing, I headed to the dinning hall. On getting to the dinning hall by 7am, the students were already waiting for the dinning door to be opened. I moved straight to the school kitchen and found out that the cooks were still making tea for breakfast,

while the bags of bread were already assembled on the dinning table

At 7:15am, the cooks were already done, so I ordered some students to take the kettle of tea to the dinning hall and ensure the are dropped at the appropriate table. Then I opened the dinning door, and the students moved in. Each student collected a loaf of bread as the pass through the table were the breads was kept.

After which, they said their prayer and had their breakfast. At 7:56am, they were already done with breakfast and then moved to their various classes for the day's lessons.
As the students moved out of the dinning, the Head of Dinning gave all the staffs on duty four loaves of bread each, as it is the rule that staffs on duty are to eat from the students meal, so as to write a report on the quality of each meal.
I took my bread home and shared it among my roommate and neighbor.

Because, I do not have class on Tuesday, I stayed at home making my lesson note till 2pm.
When I got to the dinning, the students have already started taking their lunch. They were served with vegetable soup and Eba.

The food was indeed delicious. Though the portion served to the students were small, compared to what they eat at home. Then I went to the kitchen, the cooks were already peeling the potatoes that will be eaten at dinner. They were preparing potatoes and beans for dinner.

After that I headed to the clinic to find out if any student was hospitalized, but I thank God none was on bed. After that, I went back home.

When I got home I cooked jellof rice .

I did not eat the rice immediately because, I have already taken lunch in the student's dinning, so I kept it for dinner.

In the evening, by 5:15pm I went back to the dinning, the cooks have already dished out the food for dinner and the junior students around were taking them to the appropriate table. I stayed for awhile in the dinning, before leaving for home.
Immediately, I got home. I took a shower and ate from the jellof rice I made in the afternoon,

then i retired for the day, while hoping to do better the next day, as the duty lasts for a week.
