Morning

Big Bro reminded me of the appointment we have with a family in Mvosi Amaiyi, some 1hr 30mins drive from our home, we left without eating breakfast, it was hard getting a bus to Ngwa road because they’re all busy taking people to their villages, so we had to take a route that costs more than double the price, arriving at Ngwa road we took a tricycle down to waterside, went down the bridge the other side and took another tricycle to obikabia junction, then a mini bus to Mvosi.

The Man from whom the family invited us came to pick us from the junction with his motorcycle, we drove into the village, the roads were painted red with dust, it was recently leveled with a caterpillar so everywhere was dusty, my black footwear turned to brown. We met Man’s son, he’s a friend and the man is Big Bro’s workmate, the man (which I’ll now refer to as Papi) went off to inform the family of our arrival and ordered his family to serve us food. When the food came Big Bro exclaimed (six wraps of fufu and soup), although we were three there’s no way I and Big Bro were gonna Finnish 2 wraps of fufu each, so the guy (Papi’s son which I’ll now refer to as Papi Jnr.) Said he’ll finish the rest afterward, so we embarked on eating fufu in the morning after a dusty ride. Once we were done we got a call from Papi, he gave directions but due to poor network coverage, we couldn’t quite grasp all he said, after walking for some time we asked a man we saw on the road going the opposite direction for directions, turns out we’ve walked past the copound some minutes ago and the man is among the people in the family we were meeting so we followed him.

Earlier Papi Jnr was suspecting that something was off with the way the people gave information, they said they wanna discuss parcellation of their family land but it turns out that the reason for calling us all the way there was just to write a name on the already allocated family land white sheet which we gave them, y’know how it feels paying more than three thousand naira on transport fare just to write a name on a sheet of paper, something they could’ve done themselves!!
The anger and frustration were too much, all we could do was laugh at the comedy we were just driven into.

Afternoon

After the transport and waiting and talking it was now afternoon. We wrote the name and Papi drove us to the highway, we asked Papi why he didn’t tell us it was just about writing a name, he made it clear that the chief in the family never told him so, the information he received was that they needed to discuss parcellation of their family land. Once we arrived at the highway we took a mini bus to Aba main park, we made our way to St Michael’s to buy cables, most of the shops were closed due to the fact that the owners traveled to their villages to spend the holidays. After walking and searching in various shops for the cable which we were unable to get, I bought a new USB cable because the old one was now slow. We got home around 3 PM and there was a visitor already waiting for us at home.

Evening

The man came to review his building plan, he wanted a compact 4 bedroom flat, I had earlier designed a complete set of building plans for him I was just surprised he came back for another concept, well not bad as long as he’s gonna pay 😏, I sent people to buy fuel, but as soon as the generator was turned on I noticed that my monitor is malfunctioning, I had to urge Big Bro to take him through the compacting process of a four bedroom flat. I opened the monitor to find out that one of the capacitors for the backlight has been fried, and they said it was a happy new year? I opened the other monitor from the same company but smaller than the one I’m currently using to see if I’ll get the component I need, saw a similar capacitor but as I plugged in my soldering iron to extract it I found out that the soldering iron itself is damaged and can’t produce enough heat needed to melt the lead, I just lay on the floor till dinner was served, after dinner I lay back waiting for my phone to charge and eventually slept off, woke up later to chat with friends via messenger and WhatsApp and slept around 2 AM afterwards.
