I woke up at the sound of my alarm at 4:15am to prepare myself for the long journey ahead.

Hello everyone, my dear and fellow Steemians; I'm forever @thebeloved001 and I remain your favorite.

Today I'll be talking on how I tripped back home, Makurdi, Benue State on the 11th of December for the Annual Recession having successful concluded my Academic C.A Test and done for the year at Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State.

NSTA- Niger State Transportation Authority is the official transportation system of Niger State and this is where people especially myself book bus from Niger State to Benue State.

I woke up at the sound of my alarm at 4:15am to prepare myself for the long journey ahead.

It's an average of 8hours drive from Niger State to Benue State and from my calculations if I get bus which is to leave by 8am then by 4pm I should be in Makurdi, Benue State already.

I went to the park NSTA at around 6:30am to board a bus. I was able to get the second bus (you know!! it's that time of the year where people are busy traveling) even as early that people were already in the park, seems they must have slept there 😃

The First Bus used for Benue State was a New NSTA Bus and they made their call and took off. The Second Bus which I happened to be part of came also and made their call, we enter and took off.

Now the second bus was an Old NSTA Bus and it was not looking user friendly at all. We complained at it's state because it was looking and already acting funny even before we took off.

01: THE BURN

Around 9:30am we were just an hour and 30mins. after our take off in a community still in Niger State where we began we experience heat in our bus. The heat was so much that it began to smoke out from the within the bus.

The driver had earlier filled up the Bus Fuel Tank that it was going to carry us through out the journey. The smoke was so much that it was going to ignite into becoming a fire joint we the fact that we had our fuel tank filled up.

We started shouting for the driver to stop the vehicle but he gave deaf ears to it thinking it was nothing serious until we started making attempt to jump through the window that was when he stopped.

We tried opening the door of the bus but it was not opening. The Vehicle was nothing to write home about, Infact we had to use a screw to support the locking of the door from inside the bus.

At this point we had to make use of the window to avoid a sudden explosion. In our vehicle was a pregnant woman, a lady with her little baby and a very old woman who were a concern to us in this matter.

We thank God nothing happened after we all came out and the smoke was put off while call was made and another vehicle was sent to us.

We spent over 2hours waiting for the next bus to come get us to continue our journey. On it's arrival we unpacked our loads from the other bus and reloaded it in this second bus continued at about 12noon.

02: THE TRAFFIC

It was Indeed a trip already. We arrived at Abuja and now the road was a smooth drive. I get to sleep more comfortable when traveling Minna-Makurdi or Makurdi-Minna at Abuja, because the road is smooth and no traffic along the route we normally take.

This time was different, we enter Abuja through Suleja smoothly and as we approached Nyanyan for our exist we encountered a huge traffic.

The traffic had started from AYA Asokoro What3words down to Nyanya What3words It was a distance and filled up with vehicles. Report had said the cause of the traffic was a thriller vehicle that fell in Nyanya since morning that has not been removed from the road.
IMG_20211211_151611_557_1639327162382_1639327363596.jpg

We spent over 3hours in the traffic which was so frustrating. Without the traffic it was supposed to be a maximum of 15minutes drive.

Some of us had to come down from our vehicle since we were compressed like sardines 😃 and walk to stretch our legs while in the hold up.

While at the hold up I happened to meet my coach in person of Coach Dele Kelvin a.k.a Damaturu.
He personally trained me in the game of handball then when I was still an active player. On meeting him he told me he had just finished from a National Handball Camp in Abuja and he was heading back to Makurdi. Coach Dele plays for the Nigeria National Handball Team and had played in over 3 continent thus far.

03: THE SPEED BUMP

We entered Nassarawa State and to me this part of the journey is the most tiring. Nassarawa State is so long that we spend half of journey in it.

It was already getting dark and our driver had switched on the head light of the vehicle. We moved for a distance and in a Community we helped a death action.

A bike rider had entered the road wrongly without watching his sides and suddenly the vehicle in front of us had brushed him and his bike a bit to hiting the ground. This was a high way our vehicle was just behind coming with speed, when he saw the action in front he was already going to match the man who was laying on the ground already. Thank God our driver acted so swift and was able to navigate his movement into a bush where we struggled to come to a halt.

We thank God nothing had happened to the man except a few scratch on his body and his bike and we too nothing happened to us.

04: THE ENDLINE

It was around 9pm we entered Benue State and now heading for our destination which was Benue Links in Makurdi What3words

We came inn around 11pm and the park was already locked, we had to pack outside the park and off-load our things. I looked for a bike Man and boarded home.

My mum did open the gate for me and was glad to see me again. She made her way straight to the kitchen to boil me hot water to take my bath while she heat the food for me.

I couldn't bath before eating, I was so hungry so instead I did the opposite- Eat before bathing.

CONCLUSION

It was indeed an experience. I published a post on how I travelled to school 2 months ago and the experiences on the way see post here.
Lately I've been spending more than the required time on the road and it's really not funny.

I'm happy to be back home. I'm ready to eat up to getting myself back in shape 😎

Special love to my community of all time @steemalive, greater exploits 💯

Thanks

@thebeloved001, I've gone through your journey message, honestly, it wasn't an easy one. That reminds me of my last trip to Lagos state. We zoomed off by 9:30am and reached Lagos by 3:30am the next day. Thank God no life was lost. The truth is that we don't even know why things fall apart at times. But God holds the answer. Please dear, am hungry ooo
