The State of the Nation Nigeria and it economy. Club5050 by @Superwisdom ||11th May 2022
Good morning my dear steemians, my able and hard working colleagues here. I am very delighted to be among you this day.
Trust you all are doing fine.
It been a while here, something have been disturbing me in my mind as regards the state of the Nation Nigeria and it economy, back in 2015 during the time of our formal president Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan the economy was very good.
The foreign exchange was better compared to what we have now. The average price of the Naira was 197.87 NGN to a dollar, as we speak now the currency prices of a dollar to a Naira is 418/$ and at the black market 595/$.
During this period many of the food items was at a reasonable cost.
At the same time during the tenure of our late president (Yar’ Adua) the president met the price of PMS at #75 per litre and -June, 2007 when late president took over from Obasanjo he took the price back to N65/litre (price drops 15.39%) the economy was so okay the price of a Naira to a dollar was below 130 naira to a dollar. During that period our foreign reserves was even very okay the economy was very good the prices of things were low, things were very affordable. If you take #1500 to the market you will be able to buy the food stuffs you need to buy to make your soup.
Here comes our formal president Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan took power in 2015 January we were still buying fuel for as low as #65/litre but after some times he increased it to #97/litre many prices of things began to change moving up each day. Few months after he drops the price to #87/litre. Things in the market began to go back to normal.
Nigeria economy has not been stable since the inception of Nigeria because the politicians uses the economy to play politics. Nigeria which is over 200 million people with different natural resources cannot produce any thing for their self. They import nearly every good things in the country. The oil we get is been exported refined and brought back to us in an exuberant price. Even tooth pick which is supposed to be easy to produce in Nigeria is imported too.
The price of fuel is now placed at between N165 and N200 per litre by this present administration. They made every thing so expensive in the country that young men cannot even think of getting married
Nigeria is described as the giant of Africa because the have the highest population in Africa. There are many mineral resources available to boost the economy of the country but because we have greedy leaders nothing is done.
The lists of former and present prices of some important things people use in Nigeria.
- Cement which is used for building purpose was sold under the formal president between #850 - #1000 per bag presently it is sold for #4500 per bag.
- Rice: A bag of rice was sold for #10,000 and now it is sold for between #29,000 and #33,000
- Beans 6,000 and now 25,000
- Motorcycle was sold between 180,000 and 200,000 but now sold for 350,000 to 500,000
- Garri was equally sold at a very low cost but now the price is so high. I don't want to mention the prices again.
This present government is a very wicked government. Since when they entered with their empty promises nothing seems to be going down but going up alone.
Let use come to the rule of Law.
What is law in Nigeria there is no any functioning law again. If as a poor man you do anything wrong they will count the law for you. They will use the law for you but if a rich politicians does something wrong no law exists in Nigeria.
In 2020 there was a lot of police brutality going on and a protest against the police started to a section of the Nigerian police force called SARS (Special anti robbery squad) this people upress the civilians any how in the country they harrash any one. But when the protest started it shutdown the whole COUNTRY demanding the government to put an end to Police brutality Many lives were lost properties were destroyed both private and public sectors.
The APC lead government has drawn back Nigerian economy by 8 years. They are only after their pockets alone. They claimed to fight corruption when they started but today they are the worst government so far in the history of the country.
An average person can hardly eat three square meal per day.
ROAD TO THE 2023 ELECTION
As am speaking now over 30 persons has taken the presidential nomination form under the APC government. The cost of the form also created an history in Nigeria, 100 million naira for nomination form. And this people are taking this form like buy Akara to eat. Because many of them are hungry for power.
It was under this government we have seen the highest number of aspirants coming out for Presidential Post this tells you how poor the government has performed.
THE STATE OF THE SCHOOLS IN NIGERIA.
As we speak now ASSU is on strike since February but they did nothing about it. Several protests going on but the president is just like a man not alive in the country.
The only thing they are after is how their failed party will win the next presidential election by 2023.
Few days ago the aviation sector wanted to go on strike but because they are the one using this sector made sure the price of the petrol was reduced so as to stop the strike from holding.
The worse part is that I don't know if it is really the poor Nigerians that buys nomination form for some of this wicked people who do not care for them as they claims. I know for sure there is a game they are paying definitely in that evil party that came to destroy Nigeria.
They say so so group bought for them to run in the next election.
The one that pains me the most is that the former president Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan whom they humiliated during his tenure in office is now their angel they are looking for to run, adding that it is the only person that can govern Nigeria well. They made sure they bought form for him to contest after begging him and it did not work they went to waste their money buying form for him.
Thank God the man declined their offer. Many injustice going on in the country.
BAN OF TWITTER AND CRYPTOCURRENCY
Last year the government announced the ban of twitter just because the twitter management deleted the post of the president Buhari. This people do not care about what happens to the economy of Nigeria. They made people lost their jobs. They also ban cryptocurrency because they have no control of it. They just don't want the unemployed Nigeria to get job at all.
UNEMPLOYMENT
In Nigeria over 33% of the population is not employed many people are getting retired every year but they refuse to employ people to fill up the spaces available. They tell them to go and learn skill after many years in school studying a certain course. During elections they will keep sharing money to buy votes and every thing they will not pay salaries of workers. Presently speaking many state governments are woeing salaries.
SECURITY
Presently speaking the country is at his highest level of insecurity, boko haram is doing their own, bandit are doing their own killing people for now reason. Kidnapping innocent people for ransom. Bombings and so on. No security in any part of the country. Fulani herders are also doing evil things killing farmers yet the government cannot solve all this problems for his 8 years in power.
HEALTH SECTOR
The health sector in the country is going down by the day because all the young doctors who are supposed to work in the health sector have all travel out of the country. The various hospitals are lacking works all over the states. Lack of power supply to help the see or work at night.
ELECTRICITY
As big as Nigeria we have poor electricity supply in the country this government cannot do anything good about it. Many communities have been on darkness for many decades of no light. The country is presently running on 4000megat watt on electricity which is very poor. People buy fuel to try do what they needs to do in their various houses.
CONCLUSION
We need the grace of God to live fine in Nigeria there is no government in Nigeria. People who are government workers hardly get paid their full salaries.
Every price of things are not affordable, big work small money, the money we get is for us to survive, people cannot afford to do any projects rather eating alone. What a shame in a country filled with milk and honey..
