Hello my fellow steemians I hope we are all doing well. I am very delighted to write about myself and my family educational background. It was a very challenging story so far we bless God for making it a reality.

INTRODUCTION

My name is Zeblon Ororoemi Selenanabo I was born in Ajapa Community in Ondo state Nigeria. I am 33 years old since on the 15th of February 2022. My father married two wives and the both of them where staying under one roof with him together and my mother happens to be the second wife.

THE EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND OF THE FAMILY.

My Father is a teacher this was when he was a principal 2008 in a certain school.

My father was a graduate and a teacher and my mother was just a secondary school certificate holder when he got married to her. Though because my dad have the intention of pushing her further in school he got married to her. My mother was a very brilliant student from her primary school to secondary school.

HISTORY OF HOW MY MOTHER WENT TO SCHOOL.

Mrs Zeblon Tinnah D.

My grandfather never believed in the girl child education because he believes they will get pregnant in the middle of their school so he never supports her going to school. So one day my mother according to her told him she is going to school whether he likes it or not she has been seeing other people's children going to school she said she cannot seat at home again. So she took the move and all the other children, her younger once in the family followed.

According to her there is a boat to carry everyone who will be willing to go to school each day any of the children that got late will find another way to get to the school. The father was not giving her any money, he said they are too grown-up to go to school at that age, with what we her children was told she was the tallest amongst the whole children. She said they judged her by her maturity when they are going on the road people will be calling them names, saying and I quote " See this big girl going to school you want to go and get pregnant Abi" she said many people will come and advice her father Ah Mr Jacob why do you allow your grown up children to go to school dont you know they will impregnate them? Her father said leave them alone let them be anyone that get pregnant she will get married.

So when she entered the school people started looking her and asking her are you not too big to be here, why don't you stay at home my mum said she didn't even mind them she was focused when the first term ended she took first position in the class, they resumed for second term at the end of the term she took first position in her class again. It was at that point her father who did not support her going to school saw that his daughter is very serious that was when he started by buying her all she needed in school. At first it was her mother that was giving her money to buy books, back then it was mathematics and English exercise book they needed.

To cut the long story short, she took first position from primary 1- 5 in her class, so in the third term of her class 5 a new teacher was transferred to their class he then realised that it was only one girl taking first position right from the inception of that class through the records he told the class that no girl can take first position in his class he started insulting the boys in the class at the end of the next term so he deliberately gave marks to a boy in the class to take the first position from her. According to her she cried that day, the price was taken from her that year.

HOW SHE WAS GIVEN DOUBLE PROMOTION TO SECONDARY SCHOOL.

According to her she was given double promotion to move to secondary school when that incident happened. Many boys eyes where on her, people who where wanting to date her but she was not giving them any attention. They told her that they will punish her when she get to secondary school because they will be her senior over there.
But unfortunately God disappointed them and the head master gave her double promotion into JSS 1. She took the leadership post as a senior prefect girl till she graduated none of this boys could touch her again because they are in the same class she was even made senior prefect Girl.

SHE BECAME CLASS PERFECT GIRL AND SENIOR GIRL

Not just for the fact that she was given double promotion but she was also made senior girl when she got to the senior secondary school in her time.
My mother was a very brilliant girl in her time.

WHEN SHE GOT MARRIED

20220415_144920.jpg

My mother got married to my father who was also her teacher back then in the secondary school, his eye were on her during those periods. My mother said he used to be the one taking them mathematics and he made sure she was doing well in his class.

My father was a strong mathematics teacher, his class is always very hot for those who do not like mathematics, according to my mother anytime it is time for this class many students will run into the bush, but my dad will still fetch them out from the bush to attend his class. Today many of those running from mathematics are now mathematics teacher in their various schools today.

BEFORE MY MOTHER GOT ADMITTED INTO SCHOOL

My mother told us that after she got married to my dad my he was still going to school, so she began to farm to help herself and the children. During that time she has given birth to just two of us after few years of marriage. After some times she changed her way and began with selling cooked yam and stew with customers advice she added beans and later rice again. One thing lead to another her business began to expand she started making money gradually from that business.

When my dad came back from school he was surprised at what he met. He began to assist her. Though he was also doing a certain business there in the village she was helping him too. According to my mother all her plan is to further her education while she was seeing money in her business she was also saving money.
How she took the took the school form.
One day she heard that she school of Nursing form was out so she took part of the money she saved and travelled to where the school is and she took form from school of Nursing, Akure and wrote the entrance exam. To cut the story short she later got admitted into the school.

After she got admitted there were so many challenges in terms of financial services, she said many occasions because there was no handset 📞 then it was so difficult to communicate home when there is no money to buy food she will start drinking Garri many occasions. She will write several letters to her husband and it may take like three weeks before my dad (her husband) will get one of them of the letters. It was a very though period for her then.

When he finally get her messages he will have to send some money through someone that will be coming to akure which might take another two weeks before getting to her in school. It really a bad experience during those days. So because of this fact she will try not to allow the money in her and not to get finish before writing another letter, because she knew many of the letters she was writing will not get to his hand. Sometimes my father will go and visit her in School.
To cut the long story short my mother became a graduate after three years and she went for her midwifery course immediately after the nursing course. When she finished she got employed by the government immediately after her studies.

After years of working with the government we her children has also graduated from our various schools she made a move again to earn her degree certificate by getting admitted into Lautech University ogbomoso in an online program.

MY LIFE IN THE VILLAGE

When I was very young during that period my mother was in school she brought I and my siblings to her mother's place. We were living with our grandparents for those periods she was in school.
I was young around the age of 7 years but I was fishing with my siblings back in the 1994. I was looking after my immediate junior brother and my little sister then.

It was the three of us that my mother left for our grandmother when she was in school. During the period we were with our grandparents the conflict between our village and our neighbouring village happened in the year 1999 and it made people loose life's and properties then, I and my siblings with our grandmother relocated to another village for safety for about four months after some times I took my siblings living my grandmother in that village to a certain location where my father is teaching so we can study. We met our father there and continued our education until our mother finished her education and then she came to pick us.

CONCLUSION

Thank God for journey mercies so far, we have been doing well since our mother became a graduate and now working as a government employee, she has been so supportive in the family.
We the children we pray that God give her more strength to continue doing the good works she is doing.

And to our father who has been supporting us in everything, he gave us the best in terms of education which is the best legacy for a child.
Train your child the way he should go, you never can tell what your child will turn out to be in the future so give them the best education you can in life.

Thank you for reading my post.
