The prospect of going for National Youth Service Corps otherwise known as NYSC in Nigeria is sure as along as you meet the requirements as a graduate in any of the Nigerian Universities and Polytechnics to undertake the National Service. During the mandatory one year service, Corps members live among the host communities facilitating unity and integration.

However, prospective students for NYSC need to register in other to be mobilized. After one might have done with the (NYSC) registration process. Later on, the deployment letter will be sent to your dashboard for further printout for you to know the actual NYSC Orientation Camp and the State in which Nigeria you are posted to. The NYSC Orientation Camp always lasted for about three (3) weeks where you will be involved in core mandatory activities such as Military parade in the morning and in the evening. Attending lectures where you will be enlightened on Skills Acquisition And Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) at the NYSC Hall, you may also decide to join any of the sporting activities like football, judo, basket ball and volley ball.

However, From the forgoing, each Corps members at the camp will be posted to their different Place of Primary Assignments (PPA) in the host communities.
My NYSC Orientation Camp was in Mbaukwu, Awka South Local government Area, Anambra State.
I was further posted to Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area. And my Place of Primary Assignment was Community Secondary School Umunze, Orumba South, Anambra State.

At my PPA, I was the head of Corps members otherwise known as Corps Liaison Officer(CLO) and I also taught Social Studies as a subject for Junior Secondary school 3(JSS3) and (JSS2.) During the mandatory national service. Corps members work with the local communities to promote self reliance by systematically prospecting and executing development projects and programmes which impact positively on the socio-economic development of the host communities. I was assigned to work with Legal Aid Community Development Service group. I was one time the President of my CDS group, Legal Aid before i passed out from NYSC.

Some prospective students are thinking that NYSC is a scam in Nigeria, because they think Corps members might have spent the whole year doing nothing valuable to themselves, things that should be developing them to meet the real world challenges and better their lives. It is common for someone to hear 'life after NYSC is hard.' That is the main problem here in Nigeria. Some think the other way round that it's just an experience one should try after all, it is one year mandatory service.
