Preamble
Greetings great steemians in steemit block chain and @steemalive community as a whole. It a pleasure to be a part of Steemit Engagement Challenge week 3 organized by @steemalive platform. Having received wonderful entries from different location all over the world, I feel I should share mind with us all. I will reviewing local market in my locality.
Address of the Market
For the sole purpose of this engagement challenge I will be reviewing Nung Udoe Market. The market is located in the heart of the Local Government head quarter, Nung Udoe. What3word. The market is sited at a very unique location that has alot of establishments and organizations which includes; a bank, motor pack, businesses, hospital and school. The market is by a round about that links so many local government including the state capital, Uyo.
Some products from the market
- Yam
Yam is one of the product that is sold in Nung Udoe market. It's not locally produce around but imported from the northern part of the country. The ones produce around aren't most time in large quantity which makes it only consume at homes. Apart from eating yam at home, some tradition demands them as item for marital rites and that makes it hot in the market.
- Pumpkin leaf
Pumpkin leaf is another products that can hardly not be seen in the market. As a strong source of vitamins, a lot of people gets this fresh from the market as it's locally cultivated.
- Fresh pepper
Fresh pepper is one of the hot selling product in the market. It's reddish and attractive nature calls. The seller doesn't need to call you to come buy but the physical sight of it does. This product most time comes in from the neighbouring State, Cross River State although communities around cultivate it too. Pepper spices up food and it's scent alone appetites.
- Meat
Meat is highly demanded by many persons. Some used it to cook soup, make stew and some eat it dried. Nung Udoe market has this as one of the product in the market. The beef on the table is gotten from the slaughter by the sellers and brought to the market for the final consumers.
Prices of goods in the market.
In the markets, prices of some goods depend on the quantity of the product and the seller. Some of the products goes with some measurement considering the buyer. Product can be gotten as low as this but not limited to this depending on the sizes and quality. Taking a steem to be 105 naira.
Goods | Local price | Steem |
---|---|---|
Yam | 500 | 4.7 |
Pumpkin leaf | 100 | 0.95 |
Meat | 500 | 4.7 |
Fresh pepper | 100 | 0.95 |
Salt | 50 | 0.47 |
Garri | 100 | 0.95 |
1pack Maggi | 350 | 3.3 |
However, this is just few prices of some edible goods in their lest quantity which doesn't in any way depict that it can't be more than this.
Did I buy anything from the market?
To be very sincere, I didn't actually buy anything from the market as the day I went on this tour but I have been buying regularly. My food stuffs were intact and I didn't need to buy any additional one.
Rating the market.
I will love to rate the market since I have live in that environment and has constantly been buying from there.
Location: The location of Nung Udoe market is very strategic and can be easily access. It's at a central point in the headquarter of the town almost sharing the same boundary. Having a motor park that brings people from about five Local Government with a single route to the capital of Akwa Ibom State gives the market a good advantage in terms of population. One doesn't need to pay his way to the market after highlighting from vehicles at the park.
Prices of Goods: The prices of goods in this market is pocket friendly. I found out that most of the edible goods there locally cultivated. Communities and villages around harvest their farm produce down to the market directly which makes the buyers to have a direct contact with the farmers. Having direct connection with these farmers makes the prices of goods low for buyers.
Quantity of Goods: The quality of goods in this market can't be overemphasized. The goods are always fresh and greenish since the consumers has a first class supply from the producers. Howbeit, goods fades and drop in value as it passes from one hand to the other but for edible good in this market, buyers get first hand goods.
Conclusion
Market review is one that I haven't really done before but it has happened because of steemalive engagement challenge. A big thanks to steemit block chain for choosing this community thereby giving them the chance to organized this amazing

Thanks so much ma for reading through and verifying my post. I have equally taken note on the correction ma.
The market is accessible from your description, one thing I just noticed now is that things are more affordable in this market than most markets around, can you imagine they still sell #100 garri, I think because it's in the village direct producers are selling to direct consumers, thanks for sharing.
