Now, follow me as I will answer some important questions regarding my view of peer pressure. Let's move....
What is peer pressure?
From my personal view, peer pressure is the pressure or influence from one's peer group or mates to engage in an unwanted act.
Who can be a victim?
As the name implies, it's not limited to kids, young ones or adults. Rather, despite one's age, background and career, he or she can fall victim of peer pressure. But, you may wonder or ask about things or situations that can lead to peer pressure. To help out, let me drop examples of peer pressure.
Examples of peer pressure

- Smoking: If you're a student or an adult, your peers can pressurize you or lure you into smoking with them. At times, if you're a man, they might even tell you that, if you don't smoke, you're not man enough and if you're a woman, they will tell you that you're not sharp babe.

Immoral Sex: We all knows quit sure that sex is specially meant for married people. But, once you're upto age, like, 12-15 and above, your so-called friends will try to lure you into immoral conduct. To them, you need to experience it. Once you reject their offer, your name will change to dull baby or other disgusting and shameful names.
Drug abuse: Drug abuse is excessive intake of psychoactive drugs such as illegal or banned drugs, analgesics and alcohol. This is prono to youths. Especially those in high schools. Over there, they do undermine decent students.
Cultism: This also affects our youths both boys and girls. They believe that people will be afraid of them because of where they belong. Therefore, they will persuade you to join promising you that, even if you have any issue, they will provide protection.
Effects of peer pressure
- Loneliness
- Anger
- Depression
- Anxiety
- e.t.c
Why common
Base on what eye can clearly see, these things are common. Both in school (secondary and tertiary) and locally including our work places. But why. Base on research, I found out that such peers claim to love us and that they have our goodness at heart. But, are you confuse on how to handle peer pressure?, below is the answer.
How to handle peer pressure
- Parents need to train their children: Our children depends on us both physically and spiritually. Therefore, we need to train them to be spiritually strong so as to cultivate spiritual qualities like, self-control, and love which will strengthen them to withstand harmful/damaging peer pressure.
- Belief/Determination: Develop strong conviction that you can withstand dangerous peer pressure. Be convinced that your standards and beliefs are right. Truly, if your peers found out that you're not ready to give-in, the harassment will stop.
conclusion
At any given time, we must pass through one peer pressure to another. But one remarkable thing is that our peers claims that they love us, but, let's bear in mind that once we give in to them, it will be hard to say no to them in the future. And if we try saying no in the future, they will see us as weakling. Therefore, my encouragement to all my readers is this, maintain your stand. Do not give in to fear. The harassment is for a while. But if we resist, Our Father in the heaven's will smile for us and our family too will be proud of us and lastly, we will enjoy peace of mind.
Parents have an important role to play to help their children on this matter if peer pressure.

You are absolutely right, peer pressure is not limited to youth but to anyone that have or can have friends.
And yeah, parents has a lot to do to reduce these pressures in their children. Children has to be trained very well.

Thanks for sharing same view with me. People thinks that peer pressure is only for youths. To me, if parents don't resist pressure from their mates, it will be impossible for their children to resist pressure too.

Hahaha, it's ok dear. We share same view.
Having peers is being never kind of bad ideal . But getting knowing an actual nature of their influences should be our stress. Caused peer pressure can at most stand for good influences , so getting kind of proper guide needed here.
