  1. PILLOWS: Your pillow which is your nightly neck and head prop loses shape and firmness over time. It also suck up or take in the sweat, oil and skin cells you shed while you sleep. Hence, replace old pillows for new ones every 2 years especially if they are flat, lumpy or stay folded after you bend them in half.

  2. SPONGES: Sponges does not take long to become a hotbed of bacteria. They can transmit germs to hands and then to your food. and as such, if you have a cut on your hand, bacteria can enter your body that way. Scientist say it is best to replace them once a week, irrespective of whether you boil or microwave them.

  3. MAKEUP BRUSHES: While products are different, an ancient orientation, is to restock cosmetics around the 6 month mark to keep bacterial at bay. Always endeavor to replace makeup after you have used it on infected skin or eyes. Wash applicators frequently with warm water and a mild soap to keep them clean enough to use for a good while. Remember to follow this guidelines: once a week for tools that apply wet makeup, twice a week for eye makeup applicators. Discard them once they look frayed or worn out.

  4. TOOTHBRUSH: Using your toothbrush twice or more a day, affect the bristles of your toothbrush over time. However, for the best cleaning results, switch to a new one every 3 to 4 months

  5. MEDICATIONS: As usual, Manufacturers are expected to put expiration dates on their med, some studies show they work much longer than their stamped shelf life, but the best option is to keep your medicine cabinet contents current. Most expired medications will loss strength over time.

  6. EXTENSION CORDS: If you notice any sign of wear on an extension cord, it is means it time to throw it out. Cracks, damages,or problems with the plug or prongs can result to fire outbreak. It is advisable to inspect cord before use and avoid running cord under a rug or overload it with too many appliances.
