THE DAIRY GAME: 17 NOV 2021. HOW I RISE MONEY FOR SCHOOL FEES DURING SEMESTER BREAKS
INTRODUCTION
Good day everyone, trust we are all having a good time.
Today I would love to tell my Steem family about how I rise money during my semester breaks.
School is sweet and full of fun, there we get to learn new things and make new friends. People with different faces, names , background and characters get to meet and act in their own ways, in a community called school.
The beauty in school lies in the difference among students, if everyone were the same I believe school would be so boring for many jocular people to stay.
One thing that adds sweetness to school is break!
It has helped students to recover from all the stress of attending lectures, making sure assignments, field works and practicals are handled properly.
I and my team member on a field work.
BREAK PLEASURES
During break, students get to relax, play, travel, watch movies and even sleep more because there will be no burning of nights candles inorder to cover up lecture notes and handouts and no waking up early to attend lectures.
A CALL TO WORK
But my break case is different.
Every break I had was a call to work.
Working during semester break is a way i rise money for the next semester.
Guess what?
It is farm work.
Farm work and academic work are two important works with different stress levels.
Once Mum hears that school is on break, she doesn't hesitate to call me and to remind me of coming back to the village to make garri and sell inorder to rise my next semester fees and to get all I will need for the semester.
Mum, is a single parent.
Mum is very hard working and Godly.
MUM'S FARM
Mum has piece of land in different places.
On one piece she cultivated cassava, on another yam and on the other beans, okra and pumpkin leaf.
Every day is her working day on the farm except Sundays.
GARRI MAKING
On all the days we have programmed for making of garri, mum goes to the farm early before I and siblings, to harvest the cassava while we come later after doing house chores, to pack and push the cassava to the house.
Garri making is not easy but for bills and fees to be paid , I and my siblings have no option but to endure because at the end of it's stress , we get to tell ourselves that it is worth it.
Since "there is light at the end of the tunnel, there is also money at the end of garri making".
When the cassava gets home, peeling starts after which we wash the peeled cassava and take to the engine to be grinded.
After grinding the cassava, it will be put in bags for easy identification and jacking (drying).
The grounded cassava stays in the engine for two to three days for proper fermentation .
In these days we go back to the farm to get fire wood for frying.
FRYING OF THE GARRI
None of garri making process is easy.
When frying I get to battle with smoke, heat and thirst.
After frying, the garri is spread to dry or cool off then measured into bags and set to be sold. Although stressful, it has thought me to be a strong lady just as My mum is and also to work hard with my hands and strenght to get my bills paid instead of the other way round.
And When school resumes , I don't get to look like one who makes and sell garri to meet her needs rather I look beautiful and tush like every other student on campus.
SUMMARY
I go through all that to pay my fees and settle bills knowing very well that "my light affliction cannot be compared to the glory that will be revealed in me".

Thought stressful, you have saved yourself the stress of buying garri from a local store at an expensive rate when you can easily make it yourself.
That's right @beckie96830. Thank you ma
Hello @fullness, i quite appreciate your efforts and struggles in working hard on the farm during your semester break in order to pay your school fees and equally settle other bills, it's worth emulating especially for young ones like you. That singular course you have charted, although it is not easy but stressful, can help you grow into a very responsible adult in the future even after your education and settling down to married life, keep it up and thanks for sharing.
