Huobi is a top global cryptocurrency exchange platform with thousands of customers globally. In order to achieve and retain this status, lots of features most be present. When it comes to security, Huobi is top-notch. There are up to 5 security features of the Huobi platform that makes theft of funds nearly impossible. In this article, I will explain 3 of them and then demonstrate how to set up Google Authenticator, which is industry-standard third-party security protocol for security of wallets.

3 Security features that make Huobi top-Notch

1. Phone Verification: While signing up your account, you could choose to do so by supplying your email or phone number. Beyond that, your phone number could be set up as a security feature to validate any transactions on your account. It simply means that without your phone, no transactions on your account would be authorized. This is a top security feature because you are always in possession of your phone. If by any means someone breached the other security features of the platform, they would be caught at this point because there would be no one to get the verification code sent to your phone to enable the transaction.

As a general practise, it is always smart to enable phone verification. This has been helpful to stop many system breaches and prevent loss of funds from intruders.

2. Email Verification: Still another great feature from Huobi. Lets say that somehow, an intruder had access to your phone. Then Email verification would be another headache for them. Just like phone verification, the email verification requires you to enter a transaction confirmation code sent to your email. If this is not entered correctly, the transaction would be declined. Email verification is great because you are the only one that can access your mail. Enabling this feature will give added security to your funds. So it is advised that you also set up email verification for your account so that you utilize this additional security feature on Huobi.

3. Google Authenticator (GA): Perhaps one the most secure industry-accepted protocol to enhance security of funds is Google Authenticator. This third-party security software implements a two-step verification process and it is not surprising that Huobi has it implemented in their system. When Google authenticator is enabled, a user must generate a random number generated by the GA software and supply this number to confirm a transaction. The generated number is time-based. Hence, the intruder has little time to guess the generated number and finds it difficult, if not impossible to steal funds.

One of the best things you could do to secure your funds anywhere is to implement GA. Because this security protocol is important and used widely in the industry, I will demonstrate (with illustrations) how to enable GA in your Huobi account.

Easy Steps to enable Google Authenticator in your Huobi Account

Note: I will demonstrate the steps using the Huobi Global Lite app on my Android device

Step 1: Launch your Huobi Mobile app. Login and click the profile icon on your top left side of the app. (Check the illustration below)

Step 2: Click the "Security Settings" link to go to the page where you will setup added features for security.

Step 3: Click the Google Authenticator link once you are on the security settings page.

Step 4: Copy your GA keys and make sure to back it up. Click the next button at the bottom of the page to continue. At this point, lunch the Google Authenticator software (assuming you have installed it.) Create Huobi profile and insert the link you copied to create a Houbi profile on GA. Then copy the 6-digit number generated by GA and head back to your Huobi app

Step 5: The security features already implemented will kick in, before you are allowed to continue. I have already enabled phone and email verification. So I have to click "Send" under emial and "SMS" under Phone to get the codes required to complete the transaction.

Step 6: Enter the codes sent to your phone or email or both depending on the ones you enabled. Then click Confirm to continue.

Step 7: The app would log you out automatically and ask you to login again. Once logged in, the Google Authenticator security feature has successfully been enabled. To check it, go back to the security settings page and you would see it in your security settings page

Conclusion

Huobi has proven beyond doubts that it belongs to the top of global exchange platforms with the above security features. This is not an exhaustive review of the feature. There are still other security features which I will spotlight in the next review am getting ready.
