"SLC | S22W3 : Teacher self-evaluation using SWOT analysis technique"
Hello friends,
Welcome once again to my teaching entry. This is happening coincidentally when I should be making a presentation on a teaching activity. It has helped my preparations. Let's get started...
What is your opinion after understanding the subject matter provided in this course on teacher self-evaluation using SWOT analysis techniques? 1 point. |
---|
Self-evaluation using SWOT analysis has also been essential in the teaching profession. Not only has this worked for other corporate and private companies, but this has been instrumental in enhancing the teaching profession.
My opinion on this is that SWOT analysis has brought about self-consciousness & awareness among teachers. An ability to identify one's strengths is vital as this brings about optimization therein. Recognizing oneself means that we can improve on ourselves, which is what SWOT offers to us.
On the other hand, recognizing one's weaknesses may sound challenging, but this positively helps while advancing growth. In doing this, weakness could be turned into strength.
While evaluating opportunities, I believe this gives a sense of direction on what training to acquire, mentorship sessions to enroll, collaborations to make, etc.
Lastly, this evaluation process would help guide and highlight those areas we would find as inimical to our teaching advancement. Those factors we would always put up resistance to for better growth.
Evaluate your teaching activities so far using SWOT analysis techniques, identifying as many of your strengths and weaknesses as possible? 3 points |

Identifying My Strengths:
I have built a strong and resilient communication style that allows me to effectively convey messages in simple terms. This was achievable through my workplace and seminars on communication skills.
I have all the required prerequisite knowledge and experiences required to teach mathematics and agriculture, especially for ages 5 to 11 years and general, respectively.
I am proficient in the use of the basic teaching domains. The psychomotor domains allow for easy teaching demonstration and illustration. The cognitive and interactive domains are as well.
Easy to adjust and adapt based on real-life or classroom experience. That is to say, feedback and other needs of my students are vital determinants of which strategy to adopt.
Identifying My Weaknesses:
Effective Time Management. My ability to effectively manage time relative to course outline most times is deficient. This gives room for some of these course outlines to be rushed. Lower assimilation from students.
The need to adequately implement the technology while delivering some courses that require them is deficient.
I have difficulty designing the required assessment prototypes that best give my students performance in some parameters. Not having to have multiple assessment prototypes but rather a single prototype.
Evaluate your teaching activities so far using the SWOT analysis technique, identify as many opportunities and threats as possible? 3 Points |

Identifying My Opportunities:
As I mentioned earlier, I have identified enrollment in some workplace training, seminars, and other diploma courses as one way to attain the required professional growth in my teaching activities.
Having said my weakness, I should constantly look out for technology implementation activities that help improve my hands-on knowledge and skills in this for effective teaching strategies.
Given my adaptability strength when feedback and students' needs are required to improve teaching strategies, I should be able to get involved in teacher-student integration activities to improve this.
Align with other educators by building relationships across my immediate and outside environment for broader mentorship and support where necessary.
Identifying My Threats:
Inadequate teaching materials and resources. This is one factor that threatens the educational sector, and this is common in most developing countries.
Incessant and policy summersault in the sector. Irregular and constant change in policies affects the efficiency of teaching activities. This brings uncertainty and adaptability problems.
Increasing use of technology and other external pressures may cause disengagement from classroom activities.
After using the SWOT analysis technique, then what is the follow-up plan that you will do in the future, What are your priorities? 3 Points |
---|
A good knowledge of my SWOT analysis should position me better as a teacher. Let's look at some follow-ups as a result of this exercise.
This would propel me into delving and enhancing. My professional growth in the teaching profession. Undergoing seminars, short courses, and other programs are better ways of improving myself thereafter.
Ensure I engage in collaborative activities that help improve the support base, mentorship, and other valuable thoughts and resources.
For my adaptability skill to be complete and effective always, I should be able to improve on my initiatives that drive student feedback and needs. This would help in an effective and efficient adaptability and adjustment framework tailored towards better teaching activities.
Thank you, Friends...
I wish to invite, @eveetim, @kinkyamiee, and @ngoenyi.

You're right, swot analysis is not just about the teaching profession, but it cuts across all. Reading through, I've seen that you have strategically make use of the analysis to discover your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Those factors you have stated are what a teacher should look out for as they are very important, you've critically analysed them.
Bravo! That's a great job.
