SLC | S22W4 : Developing teachers' knowledge and skills
Today is another beautiful day with the Teachers & Students Community. Greetings to you all, and welcome to my blog!
It's another opportunity to learn from this engagement challenge and get enriched and equipped to effectively carry out my tasks and duties as a school teacher. Capitalising on all opportunities by attending trainings and seminars.
Trainings and seminars? Yes.
Trainings and seminars are both educational events, as clearly shown by this week's lesson. Both events serve different purposes and have their distinct formats and audiences. A seminar is more of an in-depth discussion and exploration of a particular topic or issue with the target audience being the general public and whoever the topic may concern. The material is delivered in the form of a presentation or a lecture, and there may be room for interaction. On the other hand, a training is a well-structured educational event aimed at a specific group of people. A training program is designed to teach participants a specific skill and competence, it often comes with hands-on-practical exercises, lectures, and demonstrations, putting more emphasis on practical application and feedback.
Using your language, when referring to the learning material you have read. Explain and develop your understanding of what seminars and trainings are, and what are the differences and similarities between them in terms of topics, benefits, target audiences, and goals.

Description : This seminar was held online through Google Meet. It was organised by the HappyHour Connect initiative in collaboration with Osani Global resources.
The highlight of the event was the presentation by the key speaker, Hon. Ntuen Anyang, who introduced us to a new farming concept known as hydroponic farming, a technique involving the growing of crops plants without any material soil. The technique used water that was mineral-rich in place of soil. The presentation was enlightening as we were introduced to the benefits and possibilities of hydroponic farming. How it could be of help in places without sufficient soil or water. Showing us his hydrophytes garden for papper, cucumber, and tomatoes.
A training I attended on the 19th of October 2024.
Entrepreneurial development strategies
Topic : "How to Present a Pitch for Grant Opportunities and Investors”
Target audience : Small startup business owners
Description : The training was also held online by the MD of Eno Peter Farms, Mr Eno Peter Akpan. Emphasising on being clear, concise, and compelling when delivering our message. The total time spent, he said would be between 5 to 10 minutes focused on the key points and the unique selling points, defining the project's unique benefits, impact, and competitive advantage. And making sure the project aligned with the investors interests or aspirations.
Clearly presenting the problem and how your project provides an affordable and lasting solution.
Participants were given the opportunity to pitch any idea, while the host provided quick guidance and corrections when necessary. When given the opportunity, I expressed my dream of creating the first vocational primary school where students are taught a skill from a young age besides the normal pedagogy.

Thanks to my instructor and to Steemit for organising this training workshop for teachers to help improve our teaching skills and professionalism.
I will love to invite @josepha, @eliany and @bela90 to participate in this very informative contest.
Thanks so much sir for finding my article useful and seeing the second topic useful for the youths
