Effective managing of classroom is a holistic approach which encompass good planning, implementation ,evaluation of learning as well as utilizing of resources in an optimum manner for the purpose of creation of most productive, respectful as well as engaged learning environment.
Planning:
• If you want to manage environment of classroom then first of all you need to focus on planning and for planning you have to consider that but are your major or primary objectives or goals for learning, after that you need to consider that what are basically needs of the students and how much they are able and capable of learning something.
• If both these things are clear to you then you should move on the needs and requirements of curriculum, maintenance of instruction strategies as well as methods for assessing students and all these things are included in your planning.
A well-planned lesson:
Following are some points I am describing by which you can understand that now your lesson is well planned;
• If expectations which you have set are clear, concise and relevant.
• If you have planned something which is aligning with your learning objectives or learning goals.
• If your planning is incorporating with diverse methodology of teaching.
• If your planning is anticipating significant challenges.
Implementing:
Implementation includes putting of your planning into practical actions and for this you need to focus on organisation of your classroom, management of proper time, your proper delivery of instructions and behaviour of students that how much they are engaging with you.
Effective implementation:
Now if you have put your plans into practical actions and they are successful then this effective implementation will result in the following things;
• After implementation you will see that there is a positive learning atmosphere and by instrumentation you can create a positive learning atmosphere.
• After implementation you can encourage active participation and engagement of your students.
• After implementation you can monitor that what is the progress of students or are they lacking somewhere or not.
• After implementation you can adjust instructions according to requirement.
Evaluating Learning:
Evaluation is defined as assessment of students learning and you can identify it by understanding or knowing if there are any gaps of knowledge, if there are any areas of improving, if there are any effective instruction strategy, if there is any deficiency in progress of students.
Ongoing evaluation:
While you are evaluating students or while evaluation is going on you can understand and evaluate the following things;
• You can informs about instruction adjustments after evaluation.
• You can enhance overall feedback from your students.
• If there is a neat then you can also refine methods of assessment of students.
• You can improve learning outcomes in case of need.
Utilizing Resources Optimally:
There should be significant and optimal utilisation of resources which gives shorting of efficient usage of materials and technology which is available as well as effective support utilisation of staff, more engaging relationships with colleagues as well as integration of community resources.
Effective resource management:
Effective management of resources can be useful for the following things;
• It can be useful for enhancement of learning experiences.
• If there are any learning needs then this is used for its support.
• Effective resource management are used for promotion of innovation.
• This is also used for fostering a sense of community over all.
Relationship Between these points:
If I talk about effective classroom management then this is used for integration of planning, implementation, evaluation as well as resource utilisation for the creation of comprehensive learning environment but all these points have relationships with each other.
• Planning is first step but it this is used for informing implementation and evaluation because if there is no planning then we cannot implement and evaluate anything.
• Implementation have its all of reliance at planning and utilization of resources so if planning and utilisation of resources will be effective then implementation can also be done in any effective manner.
• Evaluation or assessment is useful for refining planning and instruction as well as utilisation of resources is used for supporting implementation and evaluation and in this manner all these points are interrelated with each other.
• By connecting all these elements educators or teachers can create a learning climate in a positive way, can improve activity and engagement of students and can impart a new motivation of learning in them which in return would also enhance over all outcomes of learning.
• Last but not least it can be useful also for fostering a continuous culture of enhancement in learning environment.
If you want to create a supportive atmosphere of classroom then this is really significant for effective learning so here I am explaining a detailed approach which is totally based on my personal experience and my personal practices being a teacher.
Establishing a Positive Classroom Culture
Below I am explaining about establishment of a positive classroom culture according to me and its effect at learning;
• If you establish your positive classroom culture then it is helpful in building relationships in a good way by knowing about students interest their weaknesses as well as their strengths.
• It is crucial for setting clear expectations by communicating classroom rules norms as well as outcomes.
• These are important for fore string inclusivity by encouragement of diversity ,equity and respect.
• These are useful for promotion of positivity by the use of affirmations ,encouragement and by having a constructive feedback.
Physical Classroom Environment
Below I am explaining that how there should be physical environment of a classroom and its importance according to what I always implemented and what I always saw;
• Physical environment of classroom is important for organizing the space by arranging seeds for a good collaboration and good interaction.
• Physical environment of classroom is important for minimizing destructions by taking over the control at noise level,lighting and temperature of class in general.
• Physical classroom environment is important for displaying relevant materials charts and inspirational quotes for giving an attractive learning classroom look over all.
• There should be proper utilisation of educational tools and multimedia resources if there is a need because it will give a learning look to classroom physically.
Emotional Support and Safety
Now I am explaining that how emotional support and safety is important for maintaining a learning environment;
• It is useful for encouragement of open communication and empathy so there is need for creating a safe space in classroom in this way.
• There is always I need to address conflicts because resolving issues in a prompt and fair manner is good for a learning environment promotion.
• There is always a need of teaching self awareness self regulation and empathy to students because it will increase emotional intelligence of students.
• There is always a need to provide resources and reference to students for supporting their mental health.
Academic Support and Engagement
• I always cater to diversity of learning styles and requirements because this is plus point for maintaining a learning environment.
• I also always incorporate hands on activities discussions and group work in class because this is helpful in maintaining a good learning environment and also improves engagement in between students and enhance student teachers interaction also.
• At last of my lecture I always relate my lesson with practical examples and applications for clearing concepts of students and for developing there most of the interest and at last I always prefer to have a constructive feedback from students about my lecture.
When I implemented all these strategies then at last I became successful in creating most supportive atmosphere of classroom which promote academic assess social growth and emotional well being of my students.
Personal Experience:
According to my personal experience by incorporating with these strategies my classroom always became a heaven for me related to learning ,creativity and growth.
• Students develop strong relationships with me, with their class fellows and with other teachers also.
• Students seems to be more encouraged while asking their questions about relevant topic.
• Students seems to be more active and engaged as well as motivated for participating in class and group activities.
• Students academic performance also improves when they perform with their full confidence after passing through a great learning environment.
• Classroom became the heaven for me and for students also due to open discussion communication and exploration in between us.
According to my experience and observations there are multiple factors which can act as a hindrance in effective management of classroom as well as why these factors are hindrance all these things I am going to explain in a comprehensive way.
Teacher-Related Factors:
Teachers can also be a part of hindrance in effective management of class in following way according to my personal experience;
• If there are rules which are not fully clear then it can confuse students which can hinder class management.
• If there is inconsistent discipline and in equitable treatment then it can be a cause of frustration of student so classroom can never be managed effectively in this way.
• If there is any type of communication which is not much effective than it can limit understanding of students and class discipline and classroom management cannot be proper.
• If there is any lack in organising of lecture by teacher then it can be a leading cause of time waste frustration and confusion for student which can disturb classroom more rather than maintaining and managing classroom in a effective way.
• If teacher is burn out due to any reason then this type of emotional exhaustion can hinder effectiveness of teacher which as a result would be a hindrance in management of classroom.
Student-Related Factors:
• If there are some of the learning needs from students that are not properly addressed than these can cause frustration among student and it can become a sector of lack of management of classroom.
• If there are some students that are misbehaving or there behaviour is not manageable then it can disturb learning environment and can distort classroom management.
• If students are not interested in engaging in classroom then there will be no productivity in classroom and student lack of interest can be due to multiple reasons.
• If student s are discouraged or not motivated because of their participation in class then it can leads to disappointment of students and they will not focus in the upcoming courses, lessons or lectures so it will disturb overall learning environment of class and leads to less effective classroom management.
Reasons of hinderence
These factors acts as a hinderence in effective management of classroom because of the following reasons;
• They can distract teachers or students from primary learning objectives or goals.
• They can create stress and anxiety conditions because of exhaustion.
• They can disturb the overall harmony and temperament of class.
• They can limit creativity from teacher and effectiveness of understanding from students.
• They can negatively effect participation of students in class or group activities due to lack in motivation and as a result cause poor performance from students.
If you are a student or a teacher, you can be more supportive and can make learning environment more productive by focusing on all the points that I have discussed above.
If I talk about learning contract then this is basically vital and most significant tool which is used to Foster effective management of classroom and for promotion of productive environment for learning of student.
Learning contract is basically a mutual documentation in between teachers students and sometimes in some cases with parents or guardians which outline clear goals,expectations and responsibilities for a process of learning.
Key Components of a Learning Contract:
• learning objective is a key component of learning contract in which there should be are clear concise and accurate description of learning goals for students.
• there should be active participation attendance and engagement from students which are responsibilities of students.
• there should be some of the teacher responsibilities in which teacher should provide clear instructions guidance and support to students so that they may complete their learning process in a significant way.
• there should be a proper criteria for evaluation and assessment of students that what are the progresses of students going on and what a student is able to achieve.
• There should be regular update and feedback about criteria of assessment of students and there should be proper consequences for non compliance in which there is need to address if there are any issues with behaviour of if there is any lack of interest.
Relationship between Learning Contract and Effective Classroom Management:
There is a major relationship between learning contract and effective management of classroom which I am going to explain in the following way;
• Establishment of clear expectation include defining of roles and responsibilities and it addiction of confusions which are significant for effective classroom management.
• Encouragement of students accountability is also important for classroom management so students when take ownership of learning then this is a key component of learning contract.
• Fostering a positive relationship include teacher student rapport which builds trust and respect and as a result maintain classroom effectively.
• Promotion of active learning includes students engagement in meaningful activities which also promote effective management of classroom.
• Enhancement of motivation includes clear goal and receiving feedback so when students give feedback then it increase motivation in them and classroom decorum maintain and seems to be more manageable in this way.
That was all about a comprehensive relationship in between learning contract and effective classroom management.
