“SLC/S22W5: Teachers as examples and role models”

in Teachers & Students5 days ago

Teaching is more of modeling to me. I can't give out what I don't have. It's what I have in me that I can give out. So If I don't design my life in a way that others can learn, there's no how I would be able to teach.

Teaching is you. You can't give out the negative fashion of your life or character when you're living oppositely.

Before I proceed further, let me recognize the outstanding protocol @miftahulrizky, the curators and the Steemians

After understanding the course material, explain why teachers need to be examples and role models for students, and how much influence does this have on student behavior and character? 2 Points

  • Teachers are the materials.

Like I said before, I can't deliver what I don't have. So, if I intend to handle a class on a particular topic. I will make research on both the positive and negative part of that topic, and then try to expose both of them to the students, with caution. For instance, talking about SEX Education. This is a very crucial topic and anyone handling this topic is expected to use briefings method to deliver his or her message.

And then, exposes the consequences attach to anyone who break into such narratives.

  • Students have 80% percent trust on their teachers than parents.

No matter how you advised your child not to give out his/her possessions to their teachers, they will still act opposite. Why? The trust. They see their teachers as their classroom parents, and so they strive to give out the ever-trending trust.

For this reason, there are teachers who exhibit long throat over their students foods. And this is absolutely improper. This is indirectly passing a message to the students not to be contended with what they have. And I guess, this is the origin of stealing.

So, if contention can be expressed by our teachers, it can help reduce the rate of stealing practices endorsed by our students.

Each teacher has a different character and personality, name as many negative behaviors that you are aware of in yourself while teaching. 3 Points

  • Hunger throat

Although I don't practice this habits. But I've witness few of my fellow teachers exhibiting this Characteristics. They eat their pupils/wards/students food. Some will even come to school with big plates and then collects the students food, under partial pressure, divides the food into two and then take the other half. Nigeria private school teachers are fun of this practices.

And I just wander how some of them got diagnosed with certain ailments. Hunger throats is behind their fall.

Aftermaths:

this practices indirectly binds the students into certain actions which in return hurts the parents.

  • Female teachers dressing half-cocked.

This attitudes imposes negative habits on the students. By the time they notice their teacher looking sexy or nude. They will think it's the best way to dress and so would long to emulate same. And that's what will then drive the male teachers to them, because they are now half-naked.

  • Chewing of Chin gum.

I still wander where some of my female friends learnt the chewing gum pattern from!
There are people that are not meant to be teachers. And I think the management should look more deeply to this. You see students chewing gum like street beggars, paupers, prison inscriptors, mad people, and prostitute; and you wander, where are they coming from?

Teachers are meant to invoke the-bests-kind-of-knowledge on this children, not evil and wrong attitudes.

Share with us examples of positive attitudes or exemplary behaviors that you have implemented in your daily life with students? What educational values are contained in these behaviors. 4 Points

  • 5 hours sit-at-home studying.

By the Special Grace of God, I've been able to impose a 5 hours sit-at-home studying strategy on my students. When I started newly, it was diffidents to continue. However, as time grows, they begin to adapt to it. For sure, I can see the students studying their books for 5 hours everyday, and the testimonies are numerous.

  • Study as if there's an Examination tomorrow.

My students have been built with the mentality of Studying as if there's an Examination tomorrow. This is a mindset I implanted in this students. And whenever they want to study, they study with a forward mindset—always ready for whatever comes their way.

  • Looking good.

Like they say, Cleanliness is next to Godliness. You don't expect the students to look good when you yourself is always dirty. So I strive to make myself an educational copy.

What benefits do you feel from the exemplary behavior you have shown so far, has it had a positive impact on the behavior and character of your students? 1 Point

Yes! I've seen my students practicing what I taught them, and truly, it's reflective. I could remember the oral competition they went for, they came out the best. I had taught them how to comport themselves when it comes to phonetics, oral communications and mannerism. These characters has helped them becoming the real picture they desire.
