• Exam malpractice is applying other ways to pass yourself in exam when your knowledge is limited. In other words, it is doing cheating to solve a question or more questions, there are varieties of ways of doing cheating. Other than cheating, it can be other ways to pass yourself in exam; by bribing your teacher. Examination malpractice is illegal in law and it will disqualify you from exam, there are consequences to it when you are disqualified. You will face court action to reappear in the exam. In all the countries, malpractice is ban and considered illegal.

• Exam malpractice and consequences

• There can be many reason due to exam malpractice, why a student do cheating exam and how they do it.

1. There are student who always like shortcut way to pass their exam, through cheating. Cheating is done by many ways; in the past cheating was done by taking short notes with yourself in the exam clipboard, in pockets and other hiding areas if checking was done. Nowadays, electronic system is used; people carry electronic devices for cheating.

2. Second reason can be studying specific topics according to past papers and skipping other topics. Student thinks that some topics are very necessary and that can come in the examination questions but when the other side questions appear so it leads to malpractice option.

3. This reason is also situated with me, cramming sentences or answers of a question for preparation. I am not good at cramming so when a question appears where you have to right a specific answer not from your understandings.

4. Logical questions, especially in mathematical related questions. I will say that I am good at logic and I can solve question which requires understanding and logical answers; there are some students whom lack these qualities of logic.

5. Mathematics questions are sometimes very tough for student to solve, students fail to solve them; you have the understanding of methods but you still fails to solve it.

6. Biology subject questions, there are many steps to solve biology paper; remembering these steps and solving them in the right way is a problem. You will cheat unwantedly.

7. Confirmation malpractice, some students do malpractice to confirm the answer of a question from friends. When the answer is different from them then you are worried, thus you will cheat from the person sitting near to you.

• Have you ever engaged in this practice, or do you know someone (a student) who engaged in this?

Yeah, I have engaged in this many times. There were several reasons behind it. I will tell you the recent one in which I was engaged. I have cheated from others and also told them the answers of the questions.

• In month of September and starting of October, I was having my final examinations. The Statement of Entry mentioned that if someone was engaged in cheating by using electronic items mobile phones and electronic calculator which stores data will be charged heavily and the police will arrest them under section law of cheating law.

• I tried my best to avoid these unwanted things in exams and also not cheated in my exams but there were some reasons which led to cheating from others. I was having my university exam, I was attending linear algebra paper. The reason for cheating was that the paper format was not according to the past papers, there were new format introduced and we were not aware of it why the format have changed and when it was changed. In real life you should tell the students that how will be the paper this so that students can prepare according to the format of paper, there was a full format change in the first part of the paper so it led me to cheat from others.

• The first section consisted 5 questions and all of them were theory type, you have write the definitions and answer it theoretical way, the past papers were including logical and solving question, this time it was completely change, thus many students were cheating. I was also cheating because I didn't knew the answers, I wrote some of them by myself and cheated some of them.

• What are ways to curtail the increase in examination practice?

There is only way to restrict malpractice in exam is complete check on students. Installing cameras in specific areas if the examination hall to confirm the movement of students. Informing students about the strict instruction of the hall will decrease the malpractice. Other ways, like increasing distance between students or arranging seats that the students sitting near to each other are attempting different paper.
