📺 Reacher Season 3: Episodes 1-4
My thoughts on the first half of Season 3 of Reacher.
Warning: Contains Spoilers
The much anticipated 3rd season of Reacher has now begun and whilst I would prefer to binge the entirety of it over a couple of days, Amazon Prime Video is making me wait a week at a time to get my fill.
As always, Alan Ritchson plays Reacher, a badass drifter who always finds trouble... or "trouble finds him". Of the supporting cast, brick shithouse Olivier Richters (who plays Paulie) is a cage fight waiting to happen - no doubt something they'll be putting off until episode 8!
💭 Thoughts So Far
The beginning of this season left me feeling confused.
To start off, Reacher was driving a van, his van apparently, and from it, he removes some vinyl records to sell. As somebody who famously travels with just the clothes on his back and a toothbrush, this seemed extremely strange to me... but I let it go.
Then in more typical fashion, as he's trying to sell those records, he senses danger outside and as ever, his senses proved to be astute... the truck he was watching, ramming a fancy Audi and gun fight ensues. Reacher, deciding to save a young man from the back of the car.
Another jarring moment followed - Reacher shoots a cop. At this point, I'm starting to get annoyed... Reacher would never "accidently" shoot a cop.
Back to classic Reacher - car chase, losing the cops before ditching his van.
And then what was nearly my final straw - the half arsed effort to wipe the prints from his van. Casually wiping a few random areas, having been seen driving it and accessing items in the back.
By this point, I'm fuming. If it wasn't for 2 seasons of gripping entertainment, I might well have turned it off.
My Photo
Reacher reluctantly takes the young man home, where we first encounter Paulie - you just know that's going to be an epic fight.
The young man's father appears to be some kind of gangster - although claims to be a self-respecting rug dealer. After a game of Russian Roulette, Reacher's recruited into their gang - another ridiculous moment for a drifter such as Reacher.
My Photo Again
At the end of the episode, Reacher proclaims:
"I'm in"
and things suddenly made more sense - episode 2 explaining things further.
Things from then on are more classic Reacher. Happily shooting people and blowing things up. Sneaking around and generally being smarter than everybody else. Of course, I'm now hooked.... and I'll forgive them for the (initially) inexplicable happenings of Episode 1.
I didn't read all of this because of the spoiler warning. thanks for including that.
I stopped watching after season 1. I don't know why. I must have been spoiled for choice at the time or something. Since I can't read the above without spoiling it for myself can you tell me if you believe that watching seasons 2 and 3 is "worth it?"
