I recall getting really excited about the first Matrix film and saw it in theaters the day it came out. I don't know if I was just in the wrong kind of mood or was too high or what but I didn't like it and was quite upset about it... Later I realized that what you are saying above is true, the trilogy is excellent and I was very wrong with my initial assessment.
