CCC CONTEST: “What do you do with the insects in your garden?" week 3.49
Insects in the garden. I dislike them. I dislike them even more when my plants die because of them. Although people say, insects are living beings too and we should live with them, but I say, not when they kill my plants.
Usually, by the time I notice them, my plants are dying or are dead. It is frustrating and annoying. I don’t like using pesticides and I try to find natural alternatives. My plants, they usually die from mealy bugs, ants and spiders. There is also a kind of snail that seem to eat the roots too.
This plant of mine is dying because the spider couldn't keep its web away from it. I tried spraying but didn't seem to work and I tried looking for it but I couldn't find it. It hides pretty well.
For this pot, I have had a few ant nests and I have been spraying, sweeping the nests away but guess what, they keep coming back! I just swept this one a couple of days ago.
Different insects have different ways of removing them but no matter how I remove them, they always come back. You may think they have been eliminated but the truth is, they are hiding inside the soil or leaves or somewhere we can’t see.
For mealy bugs, I usually spray them with organic lemon soap with water. There are several natural methods that I have read online but only tried a few. Sometimes, it gets tiring to try to remove them and I would just give up.

Yes dear, it is very unpleasant to have these little intruders on the plants. Spraying and cleaning the plants of pests every day is exhausting. Sometimes I give up too.
You fight with ants too. It's a struggle. Inside in the kitchen I spray with a strong vinegar and they are dead. I had times they crawl out of the walls and flew through the living and at certain hours a day they crawl out of their nest and I vacuum hundreds of them. Outside it will be hard to fight them. We need an anteater!
