Hello all!

Today, we wanted to sit down and first thank the Steemit Team for the continued opportunity to be a community curator in October. It's not a role we take likely. We also would like then discuss the general direction Team 5 will be taking in our second month as curators. Our overall purpose is to help in whatever capacity we can improve the distribution of rewards to content creators and add to the overall conversation on the blockchain. I would say the goal would be to push everyone to expand their boundaries while trying to nurture a community that has shown it can thrive with challenges.

To give a brief overview of who we are: our team is comprised of myself, @philhughes, and my best friend of nearly 40 years, @httr4life. We plan on switching up in rotation from day to day unless one of us has plans that we can’t get around. The advantage to our team is that we are already closely aligned and speak daily, either on the phone or by text. We both live in America; @httr4life lives in North Carolina, while I live in Virginia, about two and a half hours away.

Mission Goals

Our main goal over the next month is to seek out great content that is not currently getting noticed and flying under the radar. While it’s important that content creators are rewarded for their work, it’s almost more important to find newer, lesser-known users and help them in their process.

We will always look to improve the platform in whatever ways we can. Last month, we really enjoyed reaching over 200 accounts each week and started making regular visits to the Newcomer Community to welcome those learning the process, into the process. Which we feel is important.

  • With our voting power, we plan to help as many people in as many places as possible. We will seek out content on every level of this site, including communities, personal blogs, hashtags, club-level status, and the comment sections that accompany all. Comments are the lifeblood of any good content. Without good, healthy community interaction, involvement, and feedback, you have yourself an echo chamber with no bright spots or direction for the future.

Voting Quota

  • As a team, we hope to select 125-160 posts and 75-90 comments a week when possible. We will then select the top posts (at least 7) and present them in our weekly curation report along with a breakdown of other stats from the week.

All posts will be considered…posts that follow the rules and add to the community in a positive way will be rewarded.

Steemit Guidelines

  • No Plagiarism/No Artificial Intelligence enhanced articles will receive rewards. That’s not to say we won’t comment on said posts.

  • If any copywritten images are part of a great post, that post will not receive any rewards from Team 5. Again, we may leave helpful feedback in that situation, but the rules and ethics keep us from giving rewards in those situations.

Other Thoughts

  • While posts that tell an entire story and provide insight and substance will ultimately be what catches our eyes, that doesn’t mean that’s the only thing Team 5 will reward. Steemit is full of great photographers and content creators who like to post their stuff that may range outside of long-form content. We plan on seeking out that content and will reward it if it is copyright-free.

  • While some content may rank higher than others, our goal is not to pass judgment on content if the guidelines are met and the post brings substance to the platform. We will always look to better the situation and encourage growth…including within ourselves as curators. Every user on this platform has content inside of themselves that they’re just waiting to share. It would be nice to inspire someone or maybe even several individuals to reach down deep and let it out.

Lastly, Team 5 is happy to continue our curation journey in October and hopes that our continued contributions will benefit the community. If you have any community suggestions, please don't hesitate to comment below.

Thank you for your time,

Team 5
