Let's really get this here comic book community going here, yeah?! On the off chance you are new to me and my work, I have a real treat for you.

A while back I was tasked with illustrating the first issue of the re-launch of The Tick. Sadly, many of the covers I've done for various comics I didn't have the time or foresight to take a lot of ptogress shots of. This one however, I did!

I have a folder fulla progress shots

First you start with a thumbnail sketch

at this point maybe you're thinking ( how do you figure out all the perspective and vanishing points?)
ah, that's easy!

Then I usually blow it up and light table it

Then ya just ink the bastard! I use a brush for everything...because I hate myself.

Normally I start inking by doing the short curved lines, I'm most comfortable with those so it's a good way to get into gear and see how fussy the brush is today.

and that's that. Then I scan it...realize I didn't remember to erase the darker pencil lines, erase the darker pencil lines, scan it again and give it to someone who knows how to use computers to color. and then off it goes to the publisher to mare up with logos!

Although I am a sculptor I am always in Awe at how you guys make your work jump off the page. I hope you don't mind me joining your community and if I have anything Comic book related I hope you don't mind me sharing it with the community. As a source of inspiration, comics rock.

OF course! Welcome aboard! Post away!
Having tried to sculpt on a few occasions ( with less than impressive results haha), learning the hard way how difficult it is, I am just as impressed by that skill! Kudos to you!

So cool to see classic natural media workflow with process and also the Tick - one of best childhood cartoon show I've watched :D

Glad you found it interesting! Yeah...the Tick was pretty great! Chairface was maybe my favorite villian from that show

Dude, I LOVE the tick haha
