A visit to the White Valley in the Awdal region and our post today 25/july/2023
Welcome to the white stream valley in the Awdal region of Borama city
This is called White Stream Valley and it is located in the Awdal region of Borama city and it is a mountainous area. The valley starts from Borama city and ends at the Red Sea
(dur dur) ada It is very long and goes through the mountains of Awdal region and it is the highest mountains in East 🌍 Africa
The valley has a lot of water flowing through it like a river and most of the water comes from a place called (Ilgoray)
The water that passes through is used by a small number of farmers and herders and they use it to irrigate the fields while the nomadic people use it for drinking and they draw it for drinking and cooking.
It is dependent on a small number of people who benefit from this very sweet water
As Somalis, we understand the value of using the water that flows from our motherland
Most of this water flows into the sea while others are swallowed by the soil and some are lost in the middle 60% are used by the people near the valley.
The mountains in the Awdal region are very steep and fertile in winter and are home to a variety of animals such as monkeys.
Most of the people there graze the animals
A white stream runs through the village
Hamarta
Xoorey
Garbodadar
Wadhka carawayne
Qabuurta
Waraqa
It's a nightmare
These villages are far away
They are very far apart
they are all under the mountains
around the valley
The people who live there depend on raising camels, cattle and sheep
Donkeys
Horses
Their livelihood depends on agriculture and livestock
They complain when the drought comes and there is no rain
The farmers of the stream are growing different vegetables from the fields and they sell them to the cities of Hargeisa and Barama and from there they get the income to manage their personal lives.
