Hello dear friends, every once in a while I manage to carve out some time to create these posts to share here in this community, and today I would like to introduce you to and tell you about a town called Conegliano which is located in the province of Treviso, but anyway at the bottom of the post you can find Every reference to understand where this place is.

I was there a few days ago, and I took some photos to share here, unfortunately the day was not so beautiful because the weather was quite overcast and rainy, but I somehow managed to capture some beautiful places in Conegliano anyway, and today in this post I want to talk a little about them.

First of all, we have to say that Conegliano is famous for the production of Prosecco wine, a sparkling white wine with a fruity and floral taste that is produced in this area thanks to the cultivation of grapes, but what particularly impressed me is the historical centre of Conegliano, which is characterised by medieval streets that wind their way through historic buildings and monuments.

The main square in Conegliano is Piazza Cima where you can find the Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunziata and when I was there I also discovered for art lovers that as an Indian it also offers the Pinacoteca Comunale which houses a vast collection of paintings and sculptures by local international artists.

I was there on business but I realised that the centre of Conegliano can easily be visited on foot and indeed in my opinion it is the ideal place to stroll around and discover the beauty of the city because that is the only way to breathe in the medieval atmosphere that characterises it and I will certainly be back in September for the prosecco fair that celebrates the production of this local wine every year.

Then in my opinion Conegliano is in a strategic position to visit other cities and places of interest in the Veneto such as the more famous Treviso but also Venice and not to forget the splendid Dolomite mountains.

Then, after visiting and walking through the streets of the centre, I wanted to go up to the castle, which is practically on the hill called San Salvatore, and luckily there was a tourist information board explaining the history of this castle, which was built around the year 1000100, but over the centuries, like many architectural constructions, it has undergone modifications and extensions, becoming one of the most important fortresses in the area.

I was in too much of a hurry and was not able to visit the whole of this castle. However, I understand that inside there is a civic museum that houses an important collection of art and historical artefacts related to the history of the city and the region, so there is a large collection of medieval weapons and armour inside, which somewhat testify to but also explain the defensive function of the castle.

It was my intention to take some final photos of the panorama from the top of the hill of the entire city of Conegliano but also of the suggestive surrounding culinary landscapes but unfortunately the rain came and I had to run away but in any case I must say in summary that the Castle of Conegliano represents a priceless historical and cultural heritage that deserves to be visited by anyone passing through the city.

I hope you enjoyed my photos and my story, and I hope perhaps that they will be useful to you. I look forward to my next post, which I hope to share with you here as soon as possible.

No conocía conegliano, como dices, es un buen punto intermedio para además de visitarlo, conocer ciudades que están cerca.

Gracias por descubrirme este lugar amiga. Un saludo

yes it is a little known place but in my opinion if you visit Venice you have to go here too

He estado mirando y parece que el pueblo está a 45 minutos en coche de Venecia, así que está cerquita. Seguramente vaya de visita cuando conozca Venecia 😅
