BURANO, THE COLOURFUL COUNTRY!

Hello friends
Today in this post of mine, I want to tell you about a place I visited on Sunday and I am sure many of you know.
It is Burano, an island in Venice, not to be confused with Murano instead the island of glass artisans.

Burano in my opinion is a must for anyone visiting Venice, because it is a very lively but above all very colourful island as you can see from the photos I took.

On Sunday I took a nice walk through the streets of this colourful village, but do you know why the houses are coloured?
It is said, although no one from the village has confirmed this to me, that since Burano is a fishing village, the houses were coloured differently to recognise them better, you have to know that in this part of the sea there is always fog, so it was hard to recognise your own house, but it seems that this method used was the best.

This tradition goes on to this day and it seems to be the most colourful village in Italy, I have never seen such a place, I don't know around the world.

However, Burano is not only famous for its colourful houses, but also for its lace, these centrepieces that are all embroidered, there used to be ladies who used to make them on the doors of these houses, but this art is now being lost.
There is still the museum, which I did not visit due to time constraints, but I will definitely return there when it is less hot.

I must say that they are very keen on decorating their homes, I have seen a few paintings to embellish even more.
If you come here on a Wednesday morning, there is a characteristic fish market, with fish freshly caught by the fishermen.

Here, people no longer live from fishing, but also from tourism, and I found the ferries nicely laden, which means they like the island a lot.
