I also recomend you to do this procedure on the comunitiy of your choice, through contests.

No matter how many steems you convert for now, what matters is to participate. Although you can accumulate some steems and participate the next week, every week there is a new contest. Read very well the rules and see the participants posts as exemples.
Joining the club, just means you can add the tag on your articles, that's it. And of course keep powering up steems
Start posting, search for contests and participate.
