What happened to September? 👹🍣🎎 Wonderful Japan
When it comes to the question of which month is the most beautiful and pleasant, opinions are probably divided. Everyone has their own view, and some people prefer the summer and the warm time of year, while others like it a little cooler.
Over the years, I've come to terms with all months and all seasons, although of course I have my favorites. If I had to choose, I would go for spring and either April or May. Everything is still fresh and the longer days really make you long for more.
I can also get a lot out of September, especially here in Japan. After the hot and often quite exhausting summer, September actually promises more pleasant temperatures and nice dry weather. At least that's what I remember from previous years, which made me really look forward to this September.
But somehow September doesn't really want to deliver this year. Even though the great summer heat is over, the weather is still far from being what you would call pleasant. On the contrary, this year's September was a pretty sweaty month in our region too, with temperatures that often exceeded 30 degrees, especially in the first half. In addition, there was very high humidity, which is more typical for August, but which has now lasted for the second half of the month.
In addition, it has now started to rain a lot in the last few days, which reminds me a lot of the rainy season we are blessed with here in Japan in June and July. Actually, it should be rather dry and sunny now, and fun to go outside.
But if you ask the locals, September has changed a lot in recent years. Even though we are supposed to be in the Japanese fall now, it still seems like summer. Short clothes and sandals dominate the street scene and even at home people walk around half-naked whenever possible.
Until recently, it was still consistently around 30 degrees in our kitchen, but now the thermometer has finally dropped below this mark, although it is still constantly above 25 degrees. And even when we go to sleep, we often make use of the air conditioning, at least for a few hours, so that it's at least a little more comfortable in bed at night. It's still pretty humid in the evening and at night, and even when we get up in the morning there's still no real cooling down.
Well, we humans are always complaining about the weather. Either it's too hot or too cold, something always doesn't suit us and we start complaining. As you can see, I can't exempt myself from this either, I even have to write it down.
Fortunately, I also managed to enjoy September in between. In my own personal way, which fortunately also showed me the advantages of this particular month. I may have only been swimming in the sea three times this month, but that's three times more than most people here in this country. And I'm even a little proud of that.
Let's see how things continue next month. October is actually really great too and I have high hopes that there will be less to complain about weather-wise than this month. It should finally be getting cooler, especially at night, and hopefully we'll finally get to be active outside again. I still have lots of trips, walks and hikes planned, and who knows, I might even jump into the water again. The sea is still warm and if the opportunity arises, I'd hate to miss it.
So fingers crossed and I keep my spirits up. The next few weeks are going to be great and I'm already looking forward to it. And of course I'll be happy to tell you more about it when I get the chance.....
