Still standing strong =/= Noch immer fest im Boden 👹🍣🎎 Wonderful Japan ENG-GER

Some things turn out to be more stable and durable than you initially expected, so that you can still have fun with them years later.
A good example is the swing, which we built several years ago from material we collected from the beach.

It has now survived several years and therefore several summers and winters and still looks really good at first glance. Admittedly, it's getting a bit long in the tooth and the crossbeam above me is creaking louder and louder. However, the two posts on the left and right are even more stable and more firmly anchored in the beach floor than they were at the beginning, as the sand around the swing has piled up higher and higher over the years. I would even say that the sand is now a good meter higher than the day we built our swing.

Back then I could still swing like a king, but nowadays I prefer to leave it to the little ones and enjoy watching others having their fun. Although of course I still test myself to see if the swing still carries me as well. And then I also think back with a little longing to the time when the swing was bigger and the little ones were much smaller. And I hope that our little masterpiece will last many more years, even if I do have a few doubts about it. But I'm happy to be surprised, and at least for this summer I'm quite optimistic that the ravages of time won't continue to wear away too quickly.

In any case, we'll be back here again soon for a bit more swinging. And if the weather continues to do what it promises, we'll soon be jumping into the waves and making the beach fun complete. This summer is sure to be another good one. I'm quite sure of that...

Manche Sachen erweisen sich als stabiler und langlebiger, als man anfangs erwartet hatte, so dass man auch noch nach Jahren seinen Spaß daran haben kann. Als gutes Beispiel fungiert hier zum Beispiel unsere Schaukel, welche wir uns vor mehreren Jahren aus Strandgut zusammengebaut hatten.

Nun hat sie bereits mehrere Jahre und daher auch mehrere Sommer und Winter überstanden und macht auf dem ersten Eindruck noch eine wirklich gute Figur. Zugegeben, ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen ist sie schon, und der Querbalken über einem knirscht nun auch immer lauter. Aber die beiden Pfosten links und rechts sind stehen sogar noch stabiler und fester im Strandboden als am Anfang, denn über die Jahre ist der Sand um die Schaukel herum immer höher geworden. Ich würde sogar behaupten, dass der Sand nun um einen guter Meter höher liegt als an dem Tag, an dem wir unsere Schaukel gebaut hatten.

Damals konnte auch ich noch so richtig schaukeln, heute überlasse ich das lieber den Kleinen und schaue mit Freude zu, wie andere ihren Spaß haben. Obwohl ich natürlich auch immer noch selber teste, ob die Schaukel mich noch trägt. Und dann denke ich auch mit ein wenig Sehnsucht zurück an die Zeit, als die Schaukel noch größer war und die Kleinen noch viel kleiner. Und wünsche mir dabei, dass unserer Prachtstück noch viele Jahr aushalten wird, auch wenn ich da dann doch ein paar Zweifel habe. Aber ich lasse mich da gerne überraschen, und zumindest für diesen Sommer bin ich ganz optimistisch, dass der Zahn der Zeit nicht allzu schnell weiter nagen wird.

Auf jeden Fall kommen wir hier bald wieder vorbei und es wird ein wenig geschaukelt. Und wenn das Wetter weiterhin hält, was es verspricht, springen wir auch bald in die Wellen und machen das Strandvergnügen komplett. Auch dieser Sommer wird mit Sicherheit ein guter werden. Da bin ich mir ganz sicher...
