Unlikely

Lately, I don't feel very motivated to write. It's not because I am out of stories but I rather watch films and series. I try to schedule my time but winter makes me slower and next to that I want to do things I like now I spend most of my time inside. I started to continue watching the series "Dr Romantic" and so far I like it. It's not like the "Bouquet" series of cheap love stories (do those books still exist?). It's a bit ER and intrigues and a lot of anger. If I may believe the Korean series all Koreans are short-tempered. Is it true or? It sounds unlikely. Strange, how we are taught Asians are polite but all I see is a lot of alcohol-abusive behaviour (not in this series so far) and an anger you won't believe but is understandable. At least it is to me. It's better to spit it out instead of poisoning oneself and keep swallowing (I do believe this causes cancer as well, being dishonest to yourself, fooling and telling yourself you don't care, are happy and more of that nonsense, trust me "positive" thinking doesn't work. If that were the case not that many doctors, therapists, doctors, physiotherapists, mediators, life coaches and so one would be at work. Also interesting, how easy it is to empty the pocket of an unhappy person.).

So what I do from now on is what I like most and feels good to me. I watched some parts of the series with the app VIKI. Strange how good it works although I can frequently not load other sites.

I also watched the film: The Wild Robot @solperez wrote about. If you like a review you can have a look at her post. If you haven't seen this animation yet (Dream Works - Shrek! / Universal) you can watch it here for free: https://hdtodayz.to/watch-movie/watch-the-wild-robot-hd-114595.10704868

I feel quite restless when watching movies anymore because as I have observed myself, If I do watch a movie I would often just pause it to check on Facebook, the market, or even YouTube for that matter to look for YouTube videos that would be interesting for me to watch in the middle of watching a movie.

Well maybe because I am just watching most of movies with my laptop because it is more comfortable for me to do so rather than to sit on our living room but the reason is maybe that I had gotten bored of watching movies unlike in my younger years especially when we are just renting out VHS and later video CDs from the now non-existent video rental shops due to the onset of the Internet.

Anyway, like Korean movies especially the war movies, they really make great movies in South Korea like the romantic TV series which is why Korean personalities and even their food is popular here in my place. 😀👍 @wakeupkitty, I am wondering if you are a Korean or Chinese.

It sounds as if you have trouble to stay focused. I experienced the same if it comes to watching films on TV. We have commercials every 15 minutes for 10-15 minutes so it takes 4 hours of longer to watch a film (don't forget the news). I stopped watching TV years ago. Only have one left for gaming or watching videos (still have the VHS and the players) or CD and also have films on USB (stick into the TV) but I rarely use it these days. On my phone (still in bed) is easier and the VIKI app works great.

I am from a mixed family and one of my grandmothers is Chinese as well.

I watched some Chinese films and they are great too, also detectives. I believe the Koreans are more promoted and so is their food although it's with us perhaps in the cities but a china town you find in most capital cities and also Chinese shops. Next to that in the Netherlands, the Chinese restaurants were always present just like snack bars. Many snack bars are taken over by the Chinese as well. The Chinese restaurants are mixed with Indonesian food, a very smart step they made over 60 years ago, perhaps longer?

Perhaps you should try to watch series? The episodes are shorter. Some 20 minutes. Good to kill a bit time and set your mind off before you do something else.

You can give me a tip what you like and I see if I can watch it as well.
By the way: on youtube you can see episodes too.

A good Friday to you. I hope you are doing fine and your mom is as well.

I don't know but watching movies now in particular bores me a lot unlike when I was younger in the VCD renting days. I guess that I had "grown-up" enough not to enjoy movies anymore especially now that my favorite actors and actresses had grown old if not died or retired.

But also maybe because that I have no more companion to watch them too as my siblings which I always watch movies with before are no longer here in the house while my father would not watch movies with me. Both my parents are just watching Facebook videos now while I myself in quite enjoying the YouTube videos.

I can't recommend you to watch anything but Korean love stories they call "Koreanovela" are popular here in my place, young folks just likes Koreans not knowing that these actors and actresses really had undergone so much surgical procedures to their faces but regardless they offer lots of entertainment value for younger people.

I remember watching "House" because my brother had bought a big collection of its video CDs. It caught my attention because the series is focused on medical stuff and its quite enjoyable to watch back then. Now its different, I just watch online.

Enjoy your weekend too @wakeupkitty🌹🌹🌹

I have a regular program of watching videos also. But they are from the Indian culture. subtitles. Actually I'm learning Hindi using https://www.duolingo.com/. Great mental exercise learning another language.
This is the series I'm watching now.

I watched dr. Romantic 2 about 2-3 years ago because reviews said it's better than season one.

I liked the main doctor lead more than the junior doctors under him. He has such an aura.

How do you find this drama so far?

This season is officially the time for books and seasons only❤

Asians are polite

I'm curious who told you that,🤣. In fact people in Europe are way too polite generally as of what we have heard.

But Asians, you should come here and see yourself our politeness while we fight.
Koreans are just a bit exaggerated version of Asians.

So, you do watch Korean films.. I thought it was only Nigeria, they infiltrated with there movies. Nigerian ladies love there romantic movies so much. I am even surprised they have other genres of seasonal movies besides romantic movies because that’s what is flooding Nigeria market.

I do, especially now it's winter again and cold and most of the time I stay inside so I schedule my day and time. I can't sleep long so in bed is good to stay warm and not staring at the ceiling. I write or watch with my phone. Strangely enough so far the Viki app always shows a good quality even if I can't see sites or only text and no pictures.
Do you use VIKI app as well?
Which film or series do you like?

I’m more of the action fan… when it comes to movies. I do watch love movies but sometimes it makes me so emotional that is why I avoid them. Too old to start bringing out tears..

🤔

Are you too old to laugh as well or to feel excited or scared?

I don't like love movies in general and I can't say Dr Romantic is one. By now I am at episode 12 and it's more about a sick, narcistic doctor trying to break others to climb the ladder.
I doubt you will cry if you watch this.

It's also interesting to see how easily people forget why they became a doctor and how money changes everything.

🍀♥️

Wow! Good for you relaxing watching movie. I want to do like this bit honestly if I watch movie, I could not finish it. It made me sleep quickly. That's why I just watch the finale the start and the end. Hehehe.

Seriously? LOL How about watching a part and next evening you watch the next part? Don't ask.. . I have had times I watched an episode for over 2 weeks because I always fell asleep. The only film I can't watch is James Bond. I fall asleep and it's not interesting enough to give it a try again.

Hahaha, I am not interesting about watching movie, it made me fall asleep like I am riding in a car even I'm short time, my boss laugh at me when they heard me snoring

So you are always awake because you are snoring? How about your employer?

At least you have a good remedieif you can't sleep. 😁

🤗🍀♥️

What matters is, you're doing something that makes you happy.

It does, it's just that time goes fast and I never learned to take time for me so at rare occasions I still hear the voices of my parents shouting to be usefull.

Trust me, you're doing so well 😊

well enough

♥️🍀

Saw the wild robot out of lack of anything better in the cinema with my sibling (birthday) and a 2nd film. Can't say I found it spectacular. It was okay. Added nothing new.

The k-drama is not my kind of entertainment. I watch more youtube. Short helps to schedule time and stay alert during the night

@aminasafdar
Oooh, I love the main doctor most of all, that's why I added the video with him. Dr Romantic is not interesting enough. I love it, it's way better than I expected and the story line is getting stronger and stronger. I believe I wrote you once that in average it took me 1 -3 episodes to get into the story. This one is the opposite. Watch season 1, don't believe what others say. Besides Rotten Tomatoes is also not what it used to be .

Come live with us and you will be a polite Asian as well. LOL
I agree most of us (not all Europeans but the Dutch are) are polite. Why? Because we are easily scolded and people loooove to say we discriminate (as if they don't discriminate - the one who shouts the loudest is the one doing it).

Are the Koreans an exaggerated version or just in the films?

Watch youtube videos of korean creators, as per their content, koreans in korean dramas are way too dramatic than they are in real life.

That's why we call it drama.

say we discriminate

Atleast you guys have opinions and say out aloud unlike Asians who shy away from many opportunities.

I have also found another difference in both continent's content creators. We lack creators who can voice their opinion publicly on a certain topic without emotions overshadowing us.

That's not the case there, right?

Asians have opinions as well but we are taught to ventilate them. That's what school is about. Think, think (bang for the head if you don't) speak out loud. Today it's the opposite. If you speak you are an enemy of the state, school, the neighbourhood or whomever it concerns or feels insulted.

We have sensitive and emotional people as well, Shy, introverts, and extroverts to name it and not everyone is able to formulate their thoughts or willing to share their opinion. There are plenty who will respond to everything you ask with an I don't know" or a "you can decide". For sure this has also to do with the level of education and the level of self-esteem. Now I think about it, it can also have to do with the part of the country you grew up. The western provinces and the centre of the country are more straightforward than those in the North, East and South. Next to that a country that rises out of the sea, fights nature won't manage with drama kings and queens. Dutch people are sober and say what they think, no party animals either.
Today it's different. The drama kings and queens with us aren't the Asians but the gold diggers and we don't consider that behaviour attractive.

You don't have columnists, irony, sarcasm, black humour, self reflection? My grandmothers already spat out what they thought (both born at the beginning of 1900) . It's not always likes but we like to know where we stand and we are taught that criticism isn't per se negative. (You are always free to say: Lalalala I don't hear you).

Do Asians shy away or is it an unwritten rule not to say what you think, believe, stand for?

but we are taught to ventilate them. That's what school is about.

Unfortunately, we're not.

Do Asians shy away or is it an unwritten rule not to say what you think, believe, stand for?

Ammm, here if any person raises their opinion in front of any elderly even with due respect, he will be branded a non sense person.

We are taught to shut our mouths infront of elders even when they are wrong. Otherwise, we'll get to hear you are an outspoken person, is this what they have taught you in the school?

Therefore, when we present our opinion we either start crying or get angry.
Calm and composed opinion raisers are a few exceptional people present in every family. Rest are just emotional(drama) kings and queens.

And if you speak your mind infront of your sitting government then they'll pick you up from your house to have a fun party in their drawing rooms.

And you'll forget the spelling of opinion/criticism/thinking by the time you return(if) home sweet home.

Casual day it is here:)

My grandmothers already spat out what they thought (both born at the beginning of 1900) .

Kind of people i admire, especially women❤

Well, I was raised (primary school) to shut up (school and at home). Children were not allowed to speak during the meals. Sunday was the worst day of the week (not allowed to do anything).

It changed a few years later, not sure why. Perhaps my parents gave up on Christianity after they divorced? Also the highschool (capital cities) weren't as strict. Great teachers who did listen and showed respect (same for the pupils and an opinion was stimulated unlike what my youngest faces but for sure this has more to do with the school or teacher since my son has a completely different experience same for the university and at work).

On average we are urged to think, raised to think, be responsible and deal with problems ourselves and not rely on the help of others. This means there's no room to sit, wait, pray or cry. It's swimming or drowning.

I do see some changes like "1-year prison" if you leave an "aggressive" comment online.
Aggressive? What is aggressive, who decides? Most likely it comes to how it fits best or whom they like to clean up. It must be the democracy we live in that doesn't come with freedom.
I wonder what my grandmothers would say if they were still alive.

Is being an outspoken person bad? Everyone was once young. How fast people forget that beats me. If you brand a person with a different opinion a "no sense" person or an idiot it means you are far from wise, not intelligent and you see that person as a threat. Kind of pathetic if you are old and look down at those you might depend on one day. If I look around me I must say many I don't always like how the elderly are treated (disrespect). It must be the big ego of the young generation with us although not everyone and on average low low-educated (not interested in education) people. I assume they try to make themselves visible this way?

and you see that person as a threat.

That's the crux of this conversation.

When anyone's opinion doesn't align with us we immediately see that person as a threat.

Only intelligent and open minded people are ready to challenge their thought process and listen different school of thoughts.

As a matter of fact, new generation is actually very disrespectful toward their elders for sure.
The wanna be heard and seen so they have the loudest voice in the discussion.

They call it confidence and their parents become happy seeing their kids are fluently speaking(disrespecting) others.

One generation taught their kids to shut up altogether and one generation didn't teach their kids to shut up for once.

About my grandmothers? O my God, both of them were so naive and wouldn't dare to speak their minds. Here women were usually the same like them. We also have real B*** women who will only fight in a very vulgar manner.

It's better not to speak than to speak shit i think.

We are swinging from one extreme to another.

However, one can change this attitude by changing their surroundings.

I only got the chance to participate in healthy discussion in my university life. Forget about school and college days when there was no concept of talking to the students besides their academic course.

And I'm so thankful that now i can engage in a healthy criticism on steemit with intellectual people as I'm speaking to one:)

Rude people always existed, and so did fighters. Male and Female. Plenty of women refused to get married and lived their lives alone, in a way they liked or made them less unhappy. Many of them might have been called witches (but how they were needed in case of need), others whores, women did wear men's clothes to survive, fought in wars, worked in factories, sailed the 7 seas (or more). I have an interesting history book about this (one has to find a way to survive).

On the other hand, women did rule (Cleopatra) and also are nasty persons (see some present women ruling).

Shouting: I've been taught that the louder the voice the lower the intellect and also the less right. Is it always true? I don't think so it depends on the person. Frustration, not being taken seriously is a reason to raise one's voice and if it comes to women: they have to work twice as hard to achieve the same as men. It's also interesting that if women behave the same as men they are called harsh, bitches, and cruel but men are compared with heroes, and courage.
Of course, this isn't always true and sensitivity plays a role so does self-esteem.

Like you (and my friends and children) we all deal with the same issues: where to find an intelligent person to have a discussion with? To exchange ideas? My son for example says he can't marry a girl without brains. It would drive him crazy. On the other, hand there are plenty of men going for the "stupid blond" because it feels better for their ego.
We all have issues with loud people, those who shout, gossip and say "Whatever you want is fine". I guess if you know yourself it's better to stay on your own instead of being with someone (friends included) you consider sheep or brainless.

Here we speak out, and share but we are not super talkative so it's worth listening if someone speaks. I do tend to believe that it's better to keep silent instead of talking just to make noise.

Shouting has nothing to do with confidence but a lack of it otherwise people would listen.

It's good to have normal discussion, isn't it? I am happy to talk with you too. What's the next drama we will watch?

What's the next drama we will watch?

I have no idea as of now, last time i watched vincenzo, heard about it?

Next i saw a few clips of the Glory and thought to continue it but it felt too depressing one.

I'm more into dramas where you find a good laugh as well as content:)

What about you? Have you watched king the eternal monarch?
