FreewriteHouse's New Moderators are Commenters
Yay, FreeWrite House has two new gooses to type!
No, we are not going to issue moderator reports but we do want more comments. We would like to try out whether it is possible to write, comment and engage to make freewriters add more life to the community and this platform.
Why?
Because there is a great lack of people willing to write comments. Commenting is necessary to make yourself visible among all those posts. Next to that contact is needed to improve yourself and to get the best out of your time on Steemit.
The new moderator will play a role in this and do what a moderator could be: the host of a community that welcomes newcomers reads them and leaves a comment. A valuable comment? It can also be funny, a shared photo or video and if a conversation arises from it then that is so nice. Off-topic comments? Those do not exist for free writers what counts is engagement.
AI
Here we write ourselves! The community has set itself the goal of promoting writing itself, writing under all circumstances and 10 minutes is enough. If you type more, that's okay, if you can't do that today, that's not a problem either, but try to write!
There are prompts that you can use to just type something randomly. It doesn't have to be a story or a poem. Everything is possible with the exception of AI written text.
Plagiarism?
We don't do that, do we? We are proud of what we write even if it is incomprehensible to others. So we ignore the work of others and if we quote something, we mention the source!
Use of AI tools
It is allowed to use AI created images, wordcounter.net, spellcheckers and dictionaries.
Markdowns
It is not necessary to use markdowns (images are also not mandatory).
Editing what you write in 10 minutes with a timer is not necessary but welcome.
Contests
Those who participate in the daily prompt or #pic1000 can win prizes (sponsored by @wakeupkitty or @hive-169911 (Tales & Stories). In addition, upvotes are given with multiple accounts and #pic1000 winners always get a 100% upvote.
If you like to give "moderating" as a freewriter a try let us know, there is room for one more writers willing to read and comment.

When I registered on Steemit and started posting, almost immediately some guy persistently started advising me to join the community of newcomers. I went there and saw people with A4 paper and captions about themselves posting photos and reports: "In the first month, I did this and that, in the second month - this and that." It scared me a little. When I was looking for a platform and came across Steemit, it said it was a decentralized platform, and I thought, "Wow, cool, it seems like the smell of freedom." Being in this community of newcomers, I thought, "Maybe it's a mandatory requirement to post in the community to introduce yourself." I decided to do it too. I asked my wife to take a photo of me, wrote the necessary information on paper, and we went out to take a picture - I thought it would be better this way. We had a whole photoshoot, and when we got home and I started reviewing the photos, I noticed that I had forgotten to write some necessary information... Darn! I rewrote the information on another sheet of paper, asked my wife again to go outside to take a picture of me. She was a bit annoyed, but agreed to do it. This time everything went well. I wrote an autobiography about myself (previously I only did this when applying for a job in the police), attached a photo with paper, and started waiting for the group administrator to decide my fate - confirm my identity in the community of newcomers or say that I provided insufficient information. About a day passed. My autobiography with a photo, where I had a pleading expression as if saying, "Please let me stay with you overnight, I'm a good guy," remained unanswered. I felt ashamed and decided to delete it. Why should I undress completely? Do everything I am told just to earn a couple of cents?! Is it all for this? It's not laziness - not doing something I don't like for no apparent reason. It's a matter of self-respect. Instead of that post, I inserted what you can see in the photo attached to this comment.

If you like the post, vote. You won't make anyone do it if they don't like it. Only if you pay them... But will those comments be genuine? It's like artificial flowers - they look like real ones from a distance... Maybe I don't understand a lot... Maybe... I'm just an ordinary person, my head is not a computer. If I say something wrong, correct me in the comments.
That would scare me too and make me mad and no way I would ever stay there like a criminal holding a piece of paper. I don't see any point in showing everything including the links to other social media. I've been always told that Steemit is not like other social media and I left Facebook a long time ago because of all the control.
A friend told me that he felt forced and regretted how he shared certain photos not only with newcomers but also if he came to certain contests where participants were kind of forced to show a certain amount of photos. I advised him to remove the photos. Some courses in the #learnwithsteem ask the same which is a good reason for me not to join. I find it ridiculous that a "selfie" decides if I am a good student or not and if it comes to photos only I have a long list of Steemians I wouldn't trust because of the photos they share and the selfies.
As I was asked to join Steemit as a writer because the platform needed good writers I agreed because I could be anonymous and do as I like. I would have never joined a platform asking me that and the first time I heard about this department was around February or March 2024 LOL.
It would be the last place where I would go and if it existed'/was active back then in the same way I would have never posted here.
I can't say I find it very inviting and only now and then I have a look and it's still disappointing what I see for different reasons.
BTW, not only does the newcomers' community ask you to hold a paper so do some other communities. Here you have to write a certain text and do something like standing on one leg and holding that paper with whatever text is written on it...
Depressing I find this and indeed it has nothing to do with decentralization but... you are free to refuse. I have no numbers but my guess is that not even 20% of all accounts (5%?) ever went through this. I understand the reason behind it (farmers or scammers or...) but if it comes to them they will find a way to hijack themselves in and do what they have in mind. It would be better if there's personal contact through engagement and a greeter/host provides information if asked for.
It's sad what you wrote but you also gave me a good laugh (sorry) but hey, at least you have a wife and had a photoshoot twice. LOL

Seems like the whole world is going crazy, in some way or form. Yesterday I had to validate a prepaid card and ended up getting interrogated via webcam. Had to hold my ID right up into the camera and wiggle it around according to command. Which is about as fair as it's annoying, in context of signing up a phone, but then I'm not going to do that song and dance for a glorified subreddit. No offense, but I'm not your little monkey. Steemit already got my number and my email address and if you can't tell I'm a real person, too fucking bad. I'm not going to livestream myself balancing a tea cup on my forehead, while also fiddling around with a timestamp. Good try though.
Strangely enough I'm barely able to tell anymore what's satire and what isn't. But I guess that's just how things go these days.

I had the same "great" webcam interrogation with Coinmerce. Not that it brought me anything and by now they let AI answer my e-mail.
Anyway, that guy asked me for my ID so I said: can I see yours first?
He looked startled and said he didn't have any with him. Instead of his ID he showed the college behind him having lunch...
Because he wasted my time with that stupid webcam thing I decided to keep him busy for a loooong time.
Can't you not just order a prepaid phone card? I still can and it's up to me if I register if so (online) they give 5 or 10 euros. Did you try it with Lebara? It's just that I rarely call so I keep buying credit which I don't need. The "send an SMS" or call rarely works.
What I don't understand is why the webcall and the rest of the old-fashioned shit is needed. We all are a number, vat number, birth, family, bank account you name it is known. Now the taxes want us to use the PIN code of the bank to sign in with them.. . they also want to give sellers the opportunity to check your bank account if you order something.
Oh, I did order it online. With a balance. Still had to do the webcam verification and wave my ID around (on top of just giving them my address and such). Local laws, I assume. But then many companies are increasingly doing that stuff in terms of.. ah, some anticipatory obedience type of deal? I'm not sure. Hell, they might not even be required to do so technically, or just yet. Like crypto exchanges and banks, with all their bullshit.
As part of the redesign, I specifically removed the "requirement" for the paper. Unfortunately, this removed "requirement" has been ignored and it feels even more draconian.
I quite like the 1st Report and 2nd Report idea. When I was new, I wanted to write these things - I wanted to express some of my learnings and the things that just made no sense (e.g. the auto-votes 5 minutes after I'd posted something... why didn't people read???) So, I liked the idea of inviting others to do the same.
But yeah - it's not fit for purpose. I almost think that we're at the point where the only people who write an Achievement 1 are the scammers.

Almost? You hit the nail. No one with brains who subscribed alone would visit the newcomers. If found at all and scrolling through it it looks like a photoshoot of criminals (once wrote about it).

Oh, absolutely. It was discussed and they were all consulted throughout its creation. Some were more engaged than others but really, only me and @inspiracion really understood what we were trying to achieve. A couple of moderators resigned (presumably too complicated and I believe that our Indonesian colleague was account farming) and a couple (our Bangla friend in particular) just appeared to ignore the entire process (I don't think he understood).
I’ve also opt out of many contest because this was one of their criteria to participate in it. I don’t think I will do that again apart from the newcomers post.
Reading about @alexanderkass post made me laugh. When i returned back to steemit, I was made to carry a cup. I had to carry a tea cup and my paper incase they want to serve virtual tea for me.
I guess no tea? No cookie? It's rediculous but what I like to know is if you asked the one who told you to do this to show him/herself first. You have no idea whom you are talking and who says you, are you? You can ask anyone to hold that teacup. And what if you are not able to make a selfie? I wonder what will happen if you have 200k in your wallet. Will they ask you as well to serve tea cups? What if you don't have a tea cup?

You can change the label and leave a sign and a "?" . We do not label newcomers as freewriters at the first time, they have to post a few times first.

It's art to create an entire story with messages within a few minutes. It's the same for commercials and not different from short stories.
Not long makes it good but what is shown or said.
It is not different from most of what we read on Steemit. Long texts, words, sentences without any meaning. After you read you are left without news, a message or something that puts your brain at work the result is you stop reading.
