The Snail Polish Adventure

“I’m off to buy some snail polish,” said Sara.

“I’ve never heard of snail polish,” replied Sam.

Sara and Sam are both snails. Sara explains;

“I’m off to buy some snail polish. You can buy it in a store called Superslug. They sell lots of things to improve your wellbeing. Shampoos, deodorants, toothpaste, etc.”

“They also sell fizzy drinks and crisps,” said Sam.

“They do that too; but I am interested in the snail polish.”

“What does the snail polish do?” asked Sam.

“We can use it to insulate our houses,” replied Sara.

“Maybe, we should give this a go,” said Sam. “Shall we?”

“Not yet,” said Sara. “If we go now, someone might step on us.”

“How will we be able to get some? People are in and out of that shop until closing time.”

“Correct,” said Sara. “We will have to get some when the store is closed.”

“Do you mean, we’re going to have to nick it?” asked Sam.

“Yes, replied Sara. “We’re going to have to wait until the store is closed. We can climb up the door and through the letterbox. We can then take the polish and make our way back out again.”

“Will we be able to do this in time?” asked Sam.

“Yes, but only if we start straight away.”

It is 6 o’clock and the store is about to close. The two snails have done their planning and preparation and are ready for action.”

“Stop,” said Sam. “There may be a change of plan.”

“Why?” said Sara.

“Because that last customer has just dropped something on the floor, over there. Is that the snail polish we need?”

“Let’s take a look?” said Sara.

They make their way to the dropped item. Sara takes a look.

“Nice find,” said Sara. “That saves us from having to go and take one.”

“Shame, though,” said Sam. “I was looking forward to the adventure.”
