Kill the dog

It was Christmas eve, me, chucks and boni had just finished catching the goat kaka asked us to catch for her, in preparation for the Christmas celebration.

It was a trite knowledge among our peers that putting the rheum of dog into our eyes will make help us see spirit and ghost.

We wanted to be invincible. kulu's rheum will be the best, chucks said as we all node in affirmation. Kulu is the most vicious dog in the whole village, which is believe to be the witch dog as it remain the dog that bark most at night. How can we get the rheum? We it kill it, i said without hesitation, how are we going to do that ? " batteries" what batteries i asked, we poison it with the black stuff in radio batteries. It sounded like a perfect plan to kill kulu the mean dog.

It was a sunny friday which happened to be the Christmas eve, kill the mean dog and become invincible was the tag of the mission. We sat under the mango tree in kaka's compound after picking tiger batteries in some trash can. We spread out old news papers in the ground a cracked a battery open over them. When the black carbon powder poured out onto the paper, the pile look disappointedly small. Chucks pushing another battery onto the paper, when we had enough we poured the black powder into the left over beans cake (akara) found in the kitchen of kaka.By creating a hole in the akara, pinching a tiny drop of powder into the akara.

It was easy for us to get the attention of kulu as it love to growl and chase after passerby , children especially. You know what to do right, chucks asked, to be sure i understood the plan on how to kill kulu. I threw the stone into mama sim's compound where kulu stay, a few minutes latter i heard a deep barking, onlyfor me to see kulu viciously racing toward my direction , i started running toward the tree where chucks and boni were, i could hear them calling me, but the dog was fast approaching immediately i got to the the tree i jumped and grabbed a branch of a tree like i was having a spring. The enraged dog rushed at the tree and stood on its hind legs scratching at the trunk with its front paws, jumping up, all the time barking its fang bared, saliva dripping out.
Where is the akara, i asked , chucks who was above me on top of the cashew tree stretched the akara for me and i threw the akara down to kulu at the Base of the tree.Kulu charge at the parcel, its body shivering with rage, then scenting food, it stop barking and poked it snout into the parcel. And then its lowered its head into the parcel and began swallowing the beans cake hungrily. As soon has the parcel was empty, the dog resume barking at the tree, but the poison started working swiftly and the barking grew weaker and began staggering side by side until it fell quiet.

The mean dog is dead, we all jump down from the tree.We took the rheum from the dog, and rub it into our eyes. The night seem to be the longest night ever only for me to wake up the next morning with conjunctivitis (apolo).
