2.06- Enter the dragon
-"Is it really her? Did you confirm that?"- Kimi looked at Akane's bright red hair and wondered if she got it right this time and his plan was finally going to be in motion, or if he was about to get out into the rain just to go on another wild goose chase. -"Yes! Yes. I confirmed it. She's already popped up in five different chip locators". He looked at her hair again. It bothered him, somehow. -"You should really change the color of that mane. It doesn't suit you."-"You always say that when something bothers you, Kimi..." -"It does. If you changed it for something else, maybe I'd have one less thing to bother me. Call the others. Let's find that girl."

Niponic corporations formed an important part of the Technocracy. Around their New Constantinople factories, a sprawling suburb of former Japanese nationals had formed, It was divided into three sections. The New Kyoto walled compound, Tanegashima, the city of glasshouses, and 2-Yokohama, an intensely crowded megaburb. As in all the suburbs that surrounded New Constantinople, crime was rampant, citizens organized their own security and only called the sanitizers in extreme cases. Safety from harm wasn't free. You called the cops, you got billed, so, in 2-Yokohama, they did it the japanese way. The protection business was handed over to people with centuries of experience: the Yakuza. Kimitake Hiraoka was the man in charge of that section, and his girlfriend, Akane, was the runaway heir to the Mushimi Corporation.
Six cars were enough to block the cross of the Chūō-dōri with the Ichiban-gai. As soon as they had the sign that the grey lorry marked Am-Sallam Antiques entered the avenue, they got ready to stop it. -"I sure hope you're right, this time. We're blocking half the city's traffic". The traffic was heavy. 2-Yokohama's Central Avenue was the main road around the North of the two hundred million New Constantinople megalopolis. -"I'm telling you. It's for sure". - "Here we go!" - He pushed the radio button. -"Everybody move. Now!"
The six cars surrounded the lorry from all sides. Traffic stopped and claxxons began a cacophony that mixed with the sound of the falling rain. Kimi exited the car and faced the front of the truck. Out from the right appeared a silhouette that looked to him like a ghost. Blinded by the reflexion of some headlights in a puddle, he blinked his eyes. When he opened them, he finally phocused on the figure. It wasn't a ghost. It was Fatima in full burka and her extended arm had the cocked Ruger pointing straight at him. Everybody stopped.

This red so much better but I miss the link to the previous part and hope you will add the link to the next one later.
I wonder what NC stands for
The link is there. I just reformed it: Look again. I think you missed it. :)
NC stands fo New Constantinople, If you have been following the story, it should stand up by now. Even in this episode, you can make the mental association. New Constantinople appears first and only after, the abbreviation.
In this piece it could stand for at least 2 different things, how about: Niponic corporations?!
If it would be clear the reader wouldn't ask or? If you write for yourself it will be clear.
I will not bother you again and waste my time.

New Kyoto would be NK. Maybe you read a German translation. :)
I re-read the piece and do concede that It can can turn into a laborious confusion, so, I adjusted the text. I will have to cut it back out when I print the full novel, as it will make for a strage reading to be constantly repeating New Constantinople.
I now believ,e, I should have considered this before ever naming the place.
Still, the name carries it's meaning.
Thanks.
