The Biggest Day of My Life

In life, everyone has a day to remember. It can be for good or bad, such memories can last for a lifetime because it is always shared when similar incidents or situations occur.
Memories shared are meant to learn from experience, and it also helps one to improve on the future. In this regard, the most important day of my life so far is the day I graduated from university.

Life was still not much revealed to me when I was in my secondary education, because then I was still much close to my parents. My school was not too far from where we lived. Within the time I was in college, as mummy’s boy, I always do funny things. I visit home often even when there are no reasons to do so and I will return to school with many provisions and money. But after I finished my college education, I was to further my education into a tertiary institution to study civil engineering. My school days in the university was not funny, as it was a different ball game entirely. School activities were not easy nor funny, much work was always on the ground for me to do, that made it more complex both academically and otherwise.

I remember when I will be out of lecture hall late, with many assignments left for me to do, test to read for, practical and drawings to accomplish. It’s all experience that will last for a lifetime. My effort and expectations were to see myself out of school one day as a graduate. Sometimes I dream of celebrating my graduation only to wake up late to class the next day. Sometimes I ask myself when this whole struggle end, I will call my mum to express myself, one thing she will always tell me is ”My son, your present experience is your ladder of greatness” while my dad will say, my son, you will know me better when you give me at least a 2.1 class at your graduation. Guess what­­. The day I wrote my last paper, it was as if a heavy load went off my head. When our result was released, I was listed among the top 2.1class graduates.

These were the incidents that led to my most memorable day. On the day of my graduation, my parents organized a wonderful party for me, all our family friends and my school friends were present. A lot was prepared for the party food, drinks and many other delicacies were provided and it was a serve yourself entertainment. Everybody in attendance was overwhelmed with the party arrangement. I remembered that when I was in school, my dad registered me for one engineering professional exam, which I wrote but not knowing that I was among the best listed as certified civil engineers.

He then collected the result on my behalf and hid it. The most amazing thing is that at the end of the party, he amazingly brought out an appointment letter from one of the best engineering firms around and handed it over to me. I was asked to resume work immediately with the benefit of an official car, an apartment and a huge salary. That gave me a good start in life that I will never forget. It was indeed the most important day of my life so far.
