THe LAST CONVERSATION
Beep. The phone call ended. And so did their friendship. Nastenka stood by the window, tilting her phone slowly.

Only two days ago, they exchanged their grievances of the world, contemplated their arrival into adulthood and diescted their apprehension until they felt better. That morning of her departure to another state, they announced their love for each other, hoping to see again.
Memories of years of laughter, tears and goosebumps fluttered through her mind for minutes and then...she clamped them shut. Turned the key in the lock and threw it in the abyss. Lest she cry tears of sweet white, and beg forgiveness she did not owe. Lest she likens to a lover's footstool, not a person deserving. Quickly, she selected her old friend's photos and deleted them forever.
Considering Nastenka had begun the confrontation, she quaked still. Like a rush of unexpected breeze, refreshing but not quite relief.
